Writing in the sand (for ps6)
This tutorial was written for ps6, may work with some small adjustments in other ps versions or in psp

I was asked how I proceeded to do the "wet" writing in the sand on the promo of Beach Treasure so I thought I'd write a little tutorial for it, it's very simple really, at least I think so... To do it I used beachtreasure-tile02.jpg that is included in the Beach Treasure pack.

First, we will need to turn this tile into a pattern. To do this, open beachtreasure-tile02.jpg then go to edit/Define Pattern... In the little window that opens just click ok:

We now have our sand as a pattern, we will now create a new document, I made mine 1000X600, and we will fill it with our new pattern. To do this go to Edit/Fill and in the little window that opens, under use, choose Pattern and then in Custom Pattern, pick your sand pattern. Click ok:

Your image should now be filled with sand...

With the Type Tool set to selection, type the text you want in the sand...

I think it's better to pick a font that looks handwritten a bit and not too thin either, I'll be using CAC Moose.

The image will look like it's turning red while you type, don't worry, it will turn into a selection when we change tool... ;)

Once you're done typing, change tool for the Move tool (it doesn't really matter which tool you pick actually, it's just to tell photoshop we're done typing and it can turn it into a selection. Then click on Ctrl/C and right after Ctrl/V, this will copy the sand inside your selection and paste it on a new layer on your document. You won't see your text right away over the sand background, but it's there on that new layer:

Now with this layer selected, go to Layer/Layer Style/Blending options and put in the following settings:

Don't click ok just yet though, we're not done! In that window, click on Inner Shadow and put in the following settings:

Nope! Still not done! Now click on Outer Glow and enter the following settings:

Depending on the size of your document, you may need to adjust the size of the Inner Shadow and Outer Glow.

And voilà! Writing in the sand...

I've posted a larger version of this image In the 2D gallery...
