I discovered Geocaching shortly after New Year’s day in 2007, after receiving a GPS receiver for Christmas. The idea behind Geocaching is simple, it is basically a high tech treasure hunt. people hide boxes or container called geocache, they then record the coordinates, longitude and lattitude, and post the location of their geocache on the official Geocaching website http://www.geocaching.com/. You don’t even need to be a member to see if there are caches in your area, you just need to type in you area code and you will see the results. you might be surprised.

The person who want to participate in geocaching goes to the site, finds the cache(s) that interest him/her and then record the coordinates on their GPS. this person then goes to find it and once it’s found he/she just logs his/her visit in a log book. some caches have little things in it, trinkets, you take one, you leave one.

The beauty about geocaching is that you are able to find places that you wouldn’t have found if it hadn’t been for geocaching and another advantage isthe fact that you get out and take some fresh air.

I found several cache so far and have hidden some too.

Here is a list of all the caches that I have visited, with each file there is a .kmz file. These files are used with Google Earth. I am not affiliated with Google Earth, but I can tell you that this is a cool program. It lets you travel all over the world via satellite imagery. you can download the free program at http://earth.google.com/

With these files (if you have the program) you will be able to see where I found and hid my caches.

J’ai découvert le Geocaching peu apres le nouvel an en 2007, après avoir recu un récepteur GPS pour Noël. Geocaching est vraiment simple, c’est comme une chasse au tresor qui prend avantage de la technologie. les gens cachent des boites ou des contenants que l’on appelle geocaches, ils enregistrent les coordonees (la longitude et la lattitude), et vont ensuite enregistrer la location de leur cache sur le site internet officiel de Geoacaching, www.geocaching.com. pas besoin d’etre membre pour voir s’il y a des caches dans votre coin. juste besoin de taper votre code postal et vous allez voir les resultats, vous aller peut-etre surpris.

J’ai trouvé plusieurs caches jusqu’à présent et j’en ai caché quelques unes aussi. voici la liste de toutes les caches que j’ai visitées, pour chacune il y a un dossier .kmz. Ces dossiers sont employés avec le programme Google Earth. Je ne suis pas affilié avec Google Earth mais tout ce que je peux dire que c’est un programme pas mal epatant. Il vous laisse voyager partout dans le monde par l’intermédiaire de photographie satellite. Vous pouvez télécharger le programme gratuitement sur http://earth.google.com/ ou en francais sur http://earth.google.fr/

Avec ces dossiers .kmz (si vous avez le programme) vous pourrez voir où j’ai trouvé et caché mes caches.
