So we are all back home and this update is going to be a little longer than usual as I am going to tell you what we did during the past 3 weeks. So here we go:

Monday, July 16, departure

Worked all day. When the shift was over, I then went up and started packing. Everybody else was packed and ready to go, they were just waiting for me. So we were all done at around 05:00pm and that is exactly when we left. We went directly to Port-Aux-Basques. As usual the weather in Port-Aux-Basques was foggy. We arrived there at around 10:00pm. This was the first highlight of the vacation for the kids. Seeing the ferry arriving through the fog. I don’t think they realized that the boat was that big. The boat left the harbour at around 12:30am. As soon as we got on the boat, we took a few minutes to look around with the children, then we went to the cabin and settled down for the night. We were a little apprehensive as we didn’t know if they would be sick or not and if they would sleep or not. But as soon as they hit the pillow they went to dreamland. We had a nice ride that went well.

Tuesday, July 17, travel

we arrived in North Sidney at around 07:30, Nova Scotia time, ½ difference with Newfoundland. We drove all day, along the way we found 5 geocaches.

The kids were perfect, I couldn’t ask for better, not a complaint, not a sound, they really surprised me. Especially if you consider that we drove for 15 hrs. We arrived in Quebec city at around 10:30pm. By that time the van was giving us some problems and it was really time to get in. We had a little chat with my mother and my sister Maud and went to bed as I was exhausted from all that driving.

Wednesday, July 18

First thing that day, after chatting a while with my mother was to get to the garage and get the van fixed. There was no way I was going to Montreal with a van that kept dying at every street corner. The garage did not have the piece that was required so they had to order it for me. The rest of the day was spend chatting with my mother, lot of things to talk about when you haven’t seen each other in 12 years. During the evening all of us and my sister went to the Mountain Equipment Co-op. It is a big store specialized in outdoor equipment. This includes kayak, so you know that I had to have a look around.

Thursday, July 19

First thing of the day again was to go back to the garage. The van was fixed in no time, took a chunk out of our vacation money, but we still needed to get around. In the afternoon we all went to Trois-Rivieres, the kids, lucie and my mother. Trois-Rivieres is about 1.5hrs from Quebec City. We went to a little kayak shop and bought a kayak for Lucie and all the equipment required. The funny part while in Trois-Rivieres is I got lost (go figure) so I stopped at a convenience store to ask for directions (yes I am a man and can still ask for directions) while in the store I met someone from Carbonear, Newfoundland. I was so happy to be in Quebec and be able to go around without people recognizing me for a change, but then, it is a small world after all. The rest of the vacation were without surprises and I was able to go incognito. During the night we went in old Quebec and had a nice walk around. That was kind of nice, the last time I was there was for the Quebec Carnival many many years ago and to tell you the truth I don’t remember much of it.

Fiday, July 20th

That was it, the rainy day. Along with my sister we spend the day in a big huge shopping mall. It took us most of the day to be able to get around. There were a lot of people in there, the most I have seen in years in one place.

During the evening we went to Lucie’s brother Alain who lives in Lac Beauport, 30 minutes away from Quebec.

Saturday, July 21

Maud’s boyfriend came down to Quebec and we had a chance to finally meet Yann. Maud had talked about him in the past, this time it was time to meet face to face. The night before it was decided that we were all going to go do Tree to Trees, this is an exercise trail that is constructed in the trees. This is on one of the ski slopes. We had lots of fun, it was physical and it is when I do stuff like this that I realize that I am not a teenager anymore. We were all there except for my mother. Maud and Yann, Alain and his wife Louise and their 2 children.

After that we all went to Alain’s and had a nice BBQ, I need to get his recipe for his BBQ salmon, it was excellent. The kids had a good time in the pool, while we, the adults, were chatting.

Shortly after supper we went to lac Beauport and Alain had a chance to try our kayak. This was a first for him and I believe he really enjoyed that.

Sunday, July 22

We had a brunch at my mother’s, The day before was her birthday and everyone came. Basically the same people as the day before. After that we all went to the aquarium of Quebec and had a really good day. We then spent the evening relaxing at Alain’s. The kids took advantage of the swimming pool once more.

Monday, July 23

We all packed and we went to Montreal. We went to Lucie’s sister, Sylvie. I had a chance to meet her boyfriend Michel. We stayed quiet for the rest of the day and we had some cake as it was my niece’s Melissa’s birthday.

Tuesday, July 24

This was back to memory lane day. I took the kids and showed them where I went to school, where I worked, where I lived when I was a kid, ect and then we went to the mall and had dinner at Chez Gerard (poutine and hot dogs). During the evening I met with an old friend of mine, Andre and we had a good chat.

Wednesday, July 25

This was another first for the kids, we took the subway and went to the old Montreal, walked a bit around, had ice cream and came back.

During the evening we went to another good friend of mine, Berthe and again we had a good chat talking about the past.

Thursday, July 26

Oh well things happen, I missed one stair and ended up breaking my small toe. It became black and blue and about twice its original size. Unfortunatly there are nothing they can do for a broken toe. Had to suffer for a while.

We then packed again and moved to Michel’s residence (Lucie’s brother), the kids were happy as they spent most of the afternoon in the pool. For the evening we went to another brother-in-law, Yvon and we had supper there.

Friday, July 27

Again the kids, especially Alain had a good time in the pool. In the meantime I initiated my brother-in-law to geocaching. We found 3 that day and he really enjoyed that.

We finished the day with supper at Jacinthe’s (sister-in-law).  During the evening I mentioned that I wanted to hear some new french music and Catherine (one my niece) was kind enough to bring a cd. She gave me her CD at the end of the evening and I thought that was really nice, thanks Catherine. I will return the favor and will send you some newfie music when I get around to it….

Saturday, July 28

Spend the day quiet, relax and had supper at Michel. We finished the evening watching a movie.

Sunday, July 29

We went shopping once more, last chance to get in the crowd. In the afternoon I went geocaching with Michel and we found 2 more. The evening was spend at another brother-in-law, Remi who invited us for supper.

Monday, July 30

This is when the real vacation started, by that I mean the real vacation for us. I enjoyed seeing everybody but for the past 2 weeks the only thing we did was running around just to do that see everybody. We left for Mont-Laurier to spend the last week with Lucie’s parent. They have a nice piece of land in the middle of the woods with a little pond on it. Quiet and relax

Tuesday, July 31

we went to the beach with the kids and I spent the day fishing at the pond. We tried to find some geocaches but without success. Did I say I went fishing?

Wednesday, August 1st

We left the kids to the grand-parents and we went for a 2 days kayak trip. Lucie had to try her new kayak. We went to the Resevoir Kyamika. That was a nice break from everything and chance to enjoy the big out there.

Thursday, August 2

We finished our trip, in total we did 20 km of kayak. I must say I had a good time. But all good things have to end so we came back and cleaned up all our gear. I had promised Alain that on the way back we would spend a night by the pond and would do some fishing. So we did that.

Friday, August 3

Early in the morning me and Alain went fishing. Then in the afternoon we went back to the beach with the kids. During the evening we went fishing again and had a nice campfire. Lucie and Kim slept by the pond that night.

Saturday, August 4

That day I went for a walk and did all the trails on the in-laws’ land. I took a lot of photos. For the past 2 weeks I took a lot of pictures and will probably spend a lot of time getting them ready to put on the net. Then I did some fishing and spent another night by the pond. During the day, Benoit, Lucie’s brother came to visit. He was the last one of Lucie’s family that we hadn’t seen

Sunday, August 05

We spend the morning packing as the vacation was getting to an end. In the afternoon we left and travelled to Quebec city where we spent the night at my mother’s.

Monday, August 06

We travelled all day, another 14 hrs of travel. We left in the morning and arrived at the ferry at 03:00am.

Tuesday, August 07

We were on the ferry all day. That was nice at it was a day crossing and the kids had a chance to go all over the ship. We arrived in Port-Aux-Basques at around 03:00pm and from there went directly home. 5hrs drive. Upon arrival home we had to clean the house as the dog had made messes all over the place.

Wednesday, August 08

Last day of vacation. Just trying to get back in the routine. The worst part is that I am working tomorrow…

Donc on est tous revenu a la maison, cette mise a jour va etre un peu plus long que d’habitude car je vais vous raconter tout ce qu’on a fait les 3 dernieres semaines. Donc on y va:

Lundi 16 juillet, départ

J’ai travaillé toute la journee. A la fin de mon shift, je suis parti a la maison et j’ai commencé a pacquetter mes affaires. Tout le monde etait pret et m’attendait. A 5:00pm on etait enfin pret et on est parti pour Port-Aux-Basques. Comme d’habitude il y avait de la brume a Port-Aux-Basques. On est arrivé vers 10:00 pm. C’était le premier point culminant des vacances pour les enfants. Voir le traversier arriver dans le brouillard. Je ne pense pas qu’ils s’attendaient à ce que le bateau soit si grand. On a quitté le quai a environ 12:30am. Dès que nous sommes montés a bord on a pris quelques minutes pour visiter le bateau avec les enfants, ensuite on a ete dans notre cabine et on s’est preparé pour la nuit. J’avais peur un peu que les enfants soient malades ou qu’ils ne dorment pas. Mais aussitot qu’ils sont mis la tete sur l’oreiller ils se sont endormis. La traversée s’est bien passé.

Mardi 17 juillet, voyage

On est arrivé a Nord-Sidney a environ 07:30, ½ heure de difference entre Terre-Neuve et la Nouvelle-Écosse. On a conduit toute la journee, en cours de route on a trouvé 5 geocaches.

Les enfants ont été parfaits, je ne pouvais pas demander mieux, pas une plainte, pas un soupir, ils nous ont vraiment étonné. Particulièrement si vous considérez que nous avons conduit pendant 15 heures. Nous sommes arrivés a Québec à environ 10:30pm. À ce moment-là la van commencait a nous donner du trouble et il était vraiment temps qu’on arrive. On a jasé un peu avec ma mere et ma soeur Maud et ensuite on a ete se coucher car j’etais crevé de ma journee de conduite.

Mercredi 18 juillet

La première chose a faire apres une jasette avec ma mere a ete d’emmener la van au garage. Une chose était certaine. je n’allais pas conduire a Montreal avec une van qui étouffe a chaque coin de rue. Le garage n’avait pas la piece, donc ils l’ont commandé. On a passé le reste de la journee a jaser avec ma mere, c’est fou combien on a a dire quand on n’a pas vu quelqun pour 12 ans.  Durant la soiree on a ete a Montain equipment coop avec ma soeur. C’est un grand magasin spécialisé dans l’équipement de plein air. Ca inclut le kayak, c’est sur que j’avais a aller faire un tour.

Jeudi 19 juillet

Autre visite au garage en commençant la journée. La van a ete reparée en un rien de temps, ca a fait une coche dans notre argent de vacances mais on devait bien se deplacer. Dans l’après-midi on est aller a Trois-Rivieres, les enfants, Lucie et ma mère. Trois-Rivieres est a peu pres a 1.5hrs de conduite de la ville du Québec. On est allé a un petit magasin de kayak et on a acheté un Kayak a Lucie et tout l’equipement requis. La partie la plus drole c’est que pendant qu’on etait a Trois-Rivieres je me suis perdu. (Et oui ca arrive!) Donc j’ai arreter dans un depanneur pour demander des directions (oui je suis un homme et je suis capable de demander des directions) pendant que j’etais dans le depanneur j’ai rencontré quelqu’un de Carbonear, Terre-Neuve. J’étais si heureux d’etre au Québec et de pouvoir me promener sans rencontrer du monde que je connais, mais ça a l’air que c’est un petit monde après tous. Le reste des vacances se sont passé sans surprise et j’ai pu demeurer incognito. Durant la soiree on a ete dans le Vieux Quebec, ca a ete le fun, surtout que la derniere fois que j’etais la c’etait durant le carnaval de Quebec il y a pas mal d’annees et pour tout dire je m‘en rappelle pas tellement.

Vendredi, 20 juillet

C’etait la journee de pluie, faqu’avec ma soeur on a passé la majorite de la journee dans un centre d’achats. Ca nous a pris la journee, surtout qu’il y avait pas mal de monde, on a prit un bon bain de foule. Ca faisait pas mal longtemps que je n’avais pas vu autant de monde dans un meme endroit.

Pendant la soirée on est allé chez le frère de Lucie, Alain qui habite au lac Beauport, 30 minutes de Québec.

Samedi 21 juillet

Le chum de Maud est venue a Québec pour la fin de semaine. On a enfin eu la chance de rencontrer Yann. Maud nous avait pas mal parlé de lui et ca a ete pas mal le fun de finallement le rencontrer. Le soir d’avant on avait tous decidé d’aller faire d’Arbre en Arbre. C’est un trajet d’hebertisme construit sur une pente de ski dans les arbres. C’etait pas pire pantoutte, c’est la que je me rend compte que je ne suis plus un adolescent. Tout le monde etait la a l’exception de ma mere, Maud et Yann, Alain et son épouse Louise et leurs 2 enfants.

Ensuite on s’est tous retrouvé chez Alain et avons eu droit a un BBQ, je dois demander a Alain sa recette de saumon, il était excellent. Les enfants en ont profité pour se baigner pendant que les adultes jasaient.

Peu de temps après le souper, nous sommes allés au lac Beauport et Alain a eu la chance d’essayer le kayak. C’était la première fois qu’il en faisait et je pense qu’il a bien aimé ca.

Dimanche 22 juillet

Maud a fait un brunch pour ma mere, le jour d’avant etait son anniversaire et tout le monde est venu. En fin de compte les meme personnes que Samedi. Ensuite on est tous parti à l’aquarium de Québec et avons eu une journée bien agréable. On a fini la soiree a se detendre chez Alain. Les enfants ont encore profité de la piscine.

Lundi 23 juillet

On a fait nos valises et on est parti pour Montréal. On est allé chez la soeur de Lucie, Sylvie. J’ai eu la chance de rencontrer son chum Michel. On est resté tranquille pour le reste de la journee et on a meme eu droit a du gateau car c’etait l’anniversaire de Melissa, ma nièce.

Mardi 24 juillet

Ca a ete un retour dans le passé. J’ai emmené les enfants et leur ai montré où je suis allé a l’école, où j’ai travaillé, où j’ai vécu quand j’étais un enfant, etc. Ensuite on a ete au centre d’achat et on a diné chez Chez Gerard (poutine et hot-dogs). Durant la soirée j’ai rencontré un bon ami à moi, André et on a pas mal jasé.

Mercredi 25 juillet

C’était encore une première pour les enfants, nous avons pris le metro et on est allé dans le vieux Montréal, on s’est promené un peu, manger une creme glacée et ensuite on est revenu.

Durant la soirée on est allé voir une autre bonne amie, Berthe et on a encore eu une bonne jasette.

Jeudi 26 juillet

Et bien oui ca arrive, j’etais tellement pressé de prendre mon premier café que j’ai manqué une marche dans l’escalier et je me suis cassé le petit orteil. Il est devenu noir et bleu et environ deux fois plus gros que d’habitude. Malheuresement ils ne peuvent pas faire grand chose pour un orteil cassé faque j’ai souffert en silence.
On a encore fait nos valises et cette fois nous sommes allés chez Michel (le frère de Lucie), les enfants étaient heureux car il a une piscine et ils ont passé la majeure partie de l’après-midi a se baigner. En soiree on est allé chez Yvon, un autre frere a Lucie pour souper.

Vendredi 27 juillet

Les enfants ont encore une fois profité de la piscine, plus particulièrement Alain. Pendant ce temps la j’ai initié Michel au joie du geocaching. On en a trouvé 3 et il a vraiment apprécié ca.

On a fini la soiree en allant souper chez Jacinthe (soeur de Lucie). Durant la soirée j’ai mentionné que j’aimerais entendre de la musique Quebecoise et Catherine ( ma nièce) a etait pas mal fine et elle est partie chercher un cd. Elle me l’a donné a la fin de la soiree et j’ai trouvé ca pas mal gentil, un gros merci Catherine. Je vais te retourner la faveur et je vais t’envoyer un cd de musique de Terre-Neuve dès que j’ai une chance…

Hé j’ai meme eu droit a un gateau de fete et un cadeau! Merci Jacinthe et ta gang!

Samedi 28 juillet

On a passé la journee a relaxer et a se detendre chez Michel. On a meme souper la et on a fini la journee a regarder un film.

Dimanche 29 juillet

Nous sommes allés faire des achats une fois de plus, dernière chance de prendre un bain de foule. L’après-midi je suis retourne trouver des geocaches avec Michel, on en a trouver 2 autres. On a passé la soiree chez Remi, un autre frere a Lucie, il nous avait invité a souper.

Lundi 30 juillet

C’est a ce moment la que les vraies vacances ont commencées, par cela je veux dire les vraies vacances pour nous. J’ai eu plaisir à voir tout le monde mais pour les 2 dernières semaines c’est la seule chose qu’on a fait ou presque. On n’a pas eu la chance de vraiment relaxer. On a fait nos valises encore et on est parti pour Mont-Laurier pour passer la derniere semaine avec les parents de Lucie. Ils ont un beau grand terrain au millieu du bois avec un beau lac. La tranquillité et la detente…

Mardi 31 juillet

On est allé a la plage avec les enfants et j’ai passé le reste de la journee au lac a pecher. On a essayer de trouver des geocaches mais sans succes. Je vous l’ai tu dit j’ai ete pecher.

Mercredi 1er août

On a laissé les enfants avec les grand-parents et nous sommes alles faire un excursion en kayak pour 2 jours. Lucie a finalement eu la chance d’essayer son nouveau kayak. On est allé au Reservoir Kyamika. C’etait pas pire pantoutte et j’ai eu pas mal de fun, en plus j’ai eu la chance d’essayer tout mon nouveau stuff de camping.

Jeudi 2 août

on as fini notre voyage et au total on a fait 20 kilomètres en kayak. J’ai vraiment apprecié ces 2 jours la, mais toute bonne chose a une fin. Donc on est revenu et on a tout nettoyé notre equipement. Avant de partir j’avais promis a Alain que nous passerions une nuit sur le bord du lac et qu’on pecherait tous les deux. Faque c’est ca qu’on a fait.

Vendredi 3 août

Lever tot et Alain et moi sommes allés pecher. Dans l’après-midi on est retourné a la plage. Pendant la soirée on est encore allé pecher et on s’est fait un feu de camp. Lucie et Kim ont dormi sur le bord du lac.

Samedi 4 août

Durant la journee je me suis pas mal promené sur le terrain, dans le bois et j’ai tout plein de photos. Pour les 2 dernières semaines j’ai pris beaucoup de photos et je vais passer pas mal de temps probablement a les preparer pour les placer dans ma galerie de photos. Apres je suis retourné pecher et j’ai passé une autre nuit sur le bord du lac. Durant la journee, Benoit, le frère de Lucie est venu nous voir. Il était  le dernier de la famille de Lucie que nous n’avions pas vu encore.

Dimanche 5 août

Encore a faire des valises, c’est pas mal platte car les vacances sont presque fini. Ah oui!  J’ai peché souvent durant notre séjour à Mont-Laurier, mais sans succès…  Pas grave, c’était l’fun quand même.  L’après-midi nous sommes partis et avons voyagé jusqu’a Québec où on a passé la nuit chez ma mère.

Lundi 6 août

Nous avons voyagé toute la journée, encore 14 heures de route. Nous sommes partis le matin et sommes arrivés au traversier a 03:00 AM.

Mardi 7 août

on a passer la journee sur le traversier. On a eu une bonne traversée encore une fois et les enfants ont pu visiter le bateau un peu mieux qu’au départ. Nous sommes arrivés a Port-Aux.-Basques vers 03:00pm et de là sommes allés directement à la maison. 5 hrs de route plus tard on est finalement arrivé. A l’arrivée on a du nettoyer la maison car les chiens avaient fait pas mal de dégats.

Mercredi 8 août

Les vacances sont fini et j’essaie juste de me rehabituer a la routine. Le pire c’est que je travaille demain…

We are leaving on Monday July 16th right after work. I say we are, I mean Lucie, Alain, Kim and myself, Vincent is not coming with us, he is staying behind as he has to work. Welcome to the adult world Vincent! But as he says, another day, another dollar… We went to see him working the other day, we took the boat tour, I must say I was impressed, he is doing a terrific job, well done Vincent.

We are leaving on Monday July 16th and we are boarding the ferry at 00:00 that night. We will drive all day tuesday, 1700km. We are hoping to get to Quebec City that night. It will all depend on the children, how they are able to cope with all this travel.

From July 17 to July July 22 we will be near Quebec city (Charlesbourg and Lac Beauport)

From July 23 to July 29 we will be in Montreal, probably all over the place.

From July 30 to August 04th we will be in Mont-Laurier, just relaxing for a week and hopefully do some kayak.

August 04-05-06th will be travel back to Newfoundland, taking the ferry on August 07, day crossing, so the children will be able to enjoy the view.

Then August 8th is back to work.

This probably means that I won’t update this blog for a while and when I do I will have a lot to say and lot of photos to upload. So see you in a month when I am all relaxed, rested and with a nice tan. I hope so anyway.

Et oui, ca s’en vient, juste une autre semaine, 5 jours de travail et c’est les vacances. J”ai pas mal hate. Comme d’habitude on a ete tres occupé au travail ces dernier jours. J’avais 4 jours de congé et j’ai du travailler 3 de ces 4 jours. J’ai ete appellé 2 fois et j’ai ete en court pour temoigner un autre. Faque pas vraiment des jours de conge. Je suis plus fatigué en retournant au travail que j’etais avant les jours de conge. Donc j’ai vraiment besoin de vacances, surtout que c’est les premieres vacances en 2 ans.

On va partir le 16 juillet. Je dis on va partir, je veux dire Lucie, Alain, Kim et moi-meme. Vincent doit demeurer ici car il doit travailler. Bienvenue dans le monde des adultes Vincent! Mais comme il dit, un autre jour, un autre dollar… On a ete le voir travailler l’autre jour. On a fait le tour de bateau et je dois dire que j’ai ete pas mal impressionné, il fait un job pas mal epatante.

Nous partons donc lundi 16 juillet tout de suite apres le travail et on va prendre le traversier à minuit.  Mardi on conduit toute la journee, quelques 1700km. On espere arriver a Quebec durant la soiree, ca va dependre des enfants et comment ils vont endurer le long voyage.

Du 17 juillet au 22 juillet on va rester a Quebec, (Charlesbourg et au lac Beauport)

Du 23 juillet au 29 juillet nous serons à Montréal, probablement à courailler pour voir tout le monde.

Du 30 juillet au 4 août on va etre a Mont-Laurier, juste à relaxer pour une semaine et j’espere faire du kayak.

4/5/6 août va etre le voyage de retour a Terre Neuve. On va prendre le traversier le 07 aout, traverse de jour, comme ca les enfants vont pouvoir apprecier le traversier et la mer. Apres ca le 8 aout c’est le retour au travail. Je vais probablement pas pouvoir mettre mon blog a jour durant cette periode donc quand je vais revenir je vais avoir beaucoup a raconter et je vais avoir tout plein de photos. Je vais donc vous voir dans un mois, tout detendu, reposé et peut-etre avec un peu de bronzage. Tout du moins j’espere.

I don’t know where to start. For that reason instead of going chronological I will just go by subject, that way I won’t have to try to remember what we did when. So here we are:

Children and family:

The children are all happy as they finished school. The report cards were not bad, nothing really out of the ordinary but allright. The first afternoon of the vacation they were already complaining that they were bored, this is going to be a long summer. Alain and Kim can’t wait to go on vacation in Montreal. Vincent’s girlfriend left him, so he is single again, one thing for sure the phone is still ringing all the time, just different people. I am sure that he will find a new girlfriend real fast, he is as good looking as is father, what can I say? Other than that we watched a new movie called Bridge to Terabithia. This is a nice movie worth watching, the kids liked it. I rediscovered a new pleasure of mine from a long time ago, Tomb Raider, the first game that has been updated recently.

We all went to the Insectarium. This is located in Deer Lake. We had lots of fun. They have a tent with live butterflies in it, the kids were thrilled especially when some of the butterflies landed on them. I took lots of photos.

Work:

Lots of it, it never stopped, we were busy. We had a truck accident, no one was injured however the content of the truck, a load of wood, ended up on the road so that one side of it was closed for a full day and we had to do traffic.

Other than that the usual, break and enter, court, and I was even called to work on my day off and had to attend court on another day off. So I end up working even if I am not supposed to. I have to go to court again in Harbour Grace next week. The good thing is that they will owe me a day off and I am keeping it for my vacation. So I have one more day. I will have to disconnect my cell phone while on vacation, the last thing I want is for them to call me.

I also had my DARE (drug abuse resistance education) graduation. For those who don’t know DARE, this is a 10 weeks program, one presentation each week, about drugs that I do in school. This was my 22nd class that I graduated. I had a good time teaching all these children.

Trails:

We did a few small ones with not much to write about. However we did 2 good trails. The first one was Lomond River, so far this is my favorite trail, I really enjoyed it. That one was 6 km one way. The terrain was not bad and it was a nice walk. I found out while doing this trail that Lomond River would be a real nice place to kayak, so I will have to try it one of these days.

The second one we did was on the last day of school, we just thought that we would take advantage of it and do a big one while we could still do it. We did the Green Gardens trail, this is a 17 km trail. It was a hard one with lot of climbing, going back down, climbing again etc. We had to do that several times. A nice trail but a hard one. I didn’t feel like this since I was in training for the RCMP17 years ago, I found lot of muscles that I had forgotten that I even had.

I am getting a nice tan from all these outdoor activities. I still need to update my page about the trails. Will do it as soon as I have time.

Photos:

Lots of them, but I’m still in the process of getting them ready for the internet, so when I finally update my gallery you will have a lot to see. While I am talking about photos, I have joined a new web site that enables me to sell my photos. The nice thing about it is the web site is taking care of printing the photos and sending them to the buyer. I have nothing to do other than upload to the website and wait. You can purchase other things with my photos on it, like fridge magnet, coasters, etc. I am still working on it and will upload more in a near future.
I also approached one of the craft stores in the area and told them that I was doing photography on the side and that most of the photos I take are better than the ones they have on display. They have agreed to take them and see what happens. That is kind of cool.

Kayak:

With all that I never had a chance to go kayaking since the last time. Hopefully in my next day off.

Geocaching:

Same here never had a chance to look for any new caches, however I did go back to one of mine and read all the comments from the people who found it. This is so cool, reading comments from people from all over the place.

E-Bay:

I mentioned last time that I had sold one thing on E-Bay. Now I am starting on a bigger scale. I bought some nice portable photo tripods, got them at a good price and will try to sell them. If you need one let me know, I am selling them real cheap. I am also getting equipped for my kayak-camping. I just received my small stove. So I am pretty well ready for a week-end of kayak camping.

Gros Morne did not make it in the CBC’s seven wonders of Canada. I think it is really too bad as it really is one of Canada’s wonders. To see the list go to:

Je sais, ça fait un bout de temps que je n’ai rien ecrit dans mon blog. Il s’est passé pas mal de chose depuis ma derniere mise a jour. Je ne sais meme pas par ou commencer. Pour cette raison au lieu d’aller par ordre chronologique je vais plutot y aller par sujet. Comme ca je ne vais pas devoir me rappeller c’est quoi que j’ai fait quand. Bon on y va:

Enfants et Famille:

Les enfants sont heureux, l’ecole est fini. Les bulletins etait pas pire, pas de surprises bonnes ou mauvaises, il etait bien et c’est a peu pres tout. Le premier jour de vacance les enfants se plaignaient deja qu’ils n’avaient rien a faire. Ca va etre long comme ete. Alain et Kim ont bien hate d’aller a Montreal pour les vacances. Ils en parlent beaucoup. Vincent est de nouveau celibataire, sa blonde l’a laissé tomber. Mais ça n’empêche pas le téléphone de sonner sans arrêt. J’imagine que c’est juste differentes personnes. Je suis pas mal sur qu’il va en trouver une autre pas mal vite, il est un beau garcon, comme son pere, que voulez-vous? A part ca on a regardé un nouveau film, Bridge to Terabithia. C’est un bon film qui vaut la peine d’etre vu, les enfants l’ont bien aimé. J’ai retrouvé un p’tit plaisir que j’avais oublié depuis longtemps. Je me suis acheté un nouveau jeu video. Ils ont repris un vieux classique et l’ont refait avec des nouveaux graphiquea. J’avais joué ce jeu-la il y a à peu pres 10 ans, Tomb Raider, je viens tout juste de me rappeller pourquoi je l’avais aimé la premiere fois.

Nous sommes tous allés à l’Insectarium qui est situé à Deer Lake. On a eu vraiment du plaisir. Ils ont une tente avec des papillons vivants a l’interieur, les enfants ont adoré, surtout quand quelques uns des papillons se sont posés sur eux. Bien sur j’ai pris tout plein de photos.

Travail:

I don’t have many photos as I can’t find my waterproof camera, I probably left it in one of the police car, at least I hope… Lucie took some from the shore.

So all in all a good day.

Pour ceux qui s’inquietent pour ma sante mentale depuis mon blog d’hier… et bien tout va tres bien, j’ai rechargé mes piles ce soir, je suis de retour a la normale. J’ai depousierré mon kayak et je suis allé faire un bon gros pagayage. Je suis resté dans le coin , juste autour de la baie de Rocky Harour. J’ai passé le phare de Lobster Cove Head et j’ai fait demi-tour.  J’’ai bien apprecié. L’eau était parfaite, la temperature etait de mon coté, pas trop de vent, une bonne journée pour du kayak. J’ai fait 7 km en à peu près deux heures.

Je n’ai pas fait de photos car je ne trouve pas ma caméra à l’épreuve de l’eau. Elle est probablement dans une des autos de police, du moins je l’espere… Lucie en a pris quelques unes du rivage.

En fin de compte un bonne journee.

The worst part I am right by it, passing by each day, seeing the water all calm and in perfect kayak condition. Watching the sunset from the shore while I could be watching it from the water. Being so close and yet so far away is depressing. My life force is slowly fading away, it has a cumulative effect, I must go back and recharge. Must do kayak…must paddle…must feel the blade in the water…must go…ocean… water..ocean… Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I had my first sell on e-bay this week. A camera bag that I got as part of a package I had purchased, but I didn’t need the bag as I had ordered another one already. I decided to give it a try to sell it instead of keeping it here collecting dust. It took two days and it was sold. Wow. I am now a seller, not just a buyer, cool! I will have more to sell soon.

Other than that the usual, work all week. Almost every day we went for a drive, to try to see some baby moose. I saw a few while working, now Lucie wants to see some as well. I have a lot of new photos, they are not in the gallery yet, I am still working on them. I found a new geocache, but did not do any new trails.

Today first day off out of 4. We took the kids to the insectarium in Deer Lake and then went grocery shopping. The next few days, I hope to do some trails. But I must also definitely go to the ocean…water….ocean…kayak… Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Ca fait 17 jours, 2 heures, 56 minutes depuis la derniere fois que j’etais dans mon kayak au milieu de l’eau. Le pire, c’est que je passe a coté tous les jours, je vois l’eau calme, les conditions parfaites tous les jours, je vois des couchers de soleil de la rive au lieu de les voir du millieu de l’eau. Être si pres et en meme temps si loin, c’est déprimant! Je sens ma force vital qui s’epuise lentement, ca a un effet cumulatif, je dois retourner sur l’eau et recharger mes batteries. Dois aller faire du kayak… doit pagayer… doit mettre ma lame dans l’eau… doit aller…ocean…eau. .ocean…… Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !

J’ai eu ma première vente sur E-Bay cette semaine. Un sac d’appareil-photo qui venait avec ma nouvelle caméra mais dont je n’avais pas besoin puisque j’en avais commander un autre. J’ai décidé d’essayer de le vendre plutôt que de le laisser ramasser la poussière dans la maison. Ca a juste pris 2 jours et il etait vendu. C’est pas pire pantoutte. Je suis donc un vendeur maintenant pas juste un acheteur. Je vais avoir plus a vendre bientot.

A part ca la vie habituelle. J’ai travaillé toute la semaine. Presque tous les jours on a ete faire des ballades en auto pour voir des bebes orignaux. J’en ai vu pendant que je travaillais mais Lucie veut en voir aussi. J’ai pas mal de nouvelles photos, mais elles ne sont pas dans ma galerie, il faut que je travaille encore dessus. J’ai trouvé une nouvelle geocache, mais je n’ai pas fait de nouveau sentier.
Aujourd’hui, premier jour de conge sur 4. On a ete a l’insectarium avec les enfants pres de Deer lake et ensuite on as ete faire la commande d’epicerie. Dans les jours à venir, j’espère faire quelques sentiers. Mais surtout, je dois definitivement aller à l’eau, faire du kayak….océan…kayak…océan…… Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !

Lucie was gone for the first half of the week, she went to a camp with Alain, this was organized by the school and they needed some chaperons. So I ended up with Kim and Vincent at home. I did pretty well considering.

Monday I worked all day and upon my return home Kim and I went for a walk. The same night I got called out in the middle of the night and only came home at around 10:30 the next morning, because of that I ended up sleeping all day Tuesday.

The rest of the week was mainly work work work. Arresting and charging people, when not fighting with them.

Friday was my first day off and Lucie and I went for a walk all morning.

Saturday I didn’t do much, Lucie and Kim went for a shopping trip in Corner Brook, Mother, daughter kind of thing, so I just stayed home. Kim is planning to start some kind of small business this summer, she will be selling crafts. So that was one of the reason they went shopping, they needed supplies. Sunday we all went for a drive and went looking for geocaches.

Of course I also took a lot of photos. Most of the photos are already in my gallery. I started a new page on my blog with a small description of all the park trails that we are going to do this summer.

So that was my week in less than a page, not bad. In other news, I heard a new song by Rob Thomas (matchbox 20) on tv and that is all I have been listening to since the beginning of the week. I did a few purchases on E-Bay. I will be trying something new soon, I am trying to sell things on E-bay and see how it goes. For that reason I just bought 20 camera tripods. Got them at a nice price and now I will resell them and see if it is worthwhile. I will let you know how thing are going. I am also slowly getting all the stuff that I need to go Kayak camping. Got the tent, sleeping bags, and stove. The main reason that I have to get new stuff is that I want everything small so it all can fit in the kayak. This is another goal for the summer, try Kayak camping.

Well tonight is back to work for another week, until Sunday this time.

La semaine dernière a été une autre semaine occupée, particulièrement au travail. Je vais vous épargner les details, mais juste vous dire que j’ai été appellé au milieu de la nuit et à une autre occasion j’ai dû me battre avec un gars. (Au fait, j’ai gagné, il a été arrêté et charge pour assaut sur un officier de police, moi…).

Lucie a été partie pendant la moitie de la semaine. Elle est allée a un camp avec l’ecole pour la classe de Alain. Ils avaient besoin de chaperons et elle a decidé de se porter volontaire. Je suis donc resté a la maison avec Kim et Vincent. Je me suis pas mal bien debrouillé en fin de compte. Lundi j’ai travaillé toute la journee et apres le retour a la maison, moi et Kim sommes aller prendre une marche. Plus tard dans la soiree je me suis fait appellé pour travailler et je ne suis revenu que mardi matin vers 10:30am. Donc j’ai passé le reste de la journee à dormir.

Le reste de la semaine a ete travail, travail, travail. Particulierement, arreter et charger du monde, je ne sais pas ce qu’il y avait dans l’air.

Vendredi était mon premier jour de conge. On en a donc profiter pour aller faire un sentier pendant la majeur partie de l’avant midi.

Samedi, je n’ai pas fait grand chose, Lucie et Kim sont allées faire du magasinage a Corner Brook. Une sortie mere et fille, donc je suis resté a la maison. Kim a l’intention de se lancer en affaire et vendre de l’artisanat cet ete. C’est pour cette raison qu’elles sont allées à Corner Brook, afin d’acheter des choses pour ça.  Dimanche nous sommes tous aller faire une ballade en auto et chercher des geocaches, en meme temps j’ai fait pas mal de photos.

La plupart des photos sont déjà dans ma galerie. J’ai commencé une nouvelle page sur mon blog au sujet des sentiers de Gros Morne.

C’etait donc ma semaine en moins d’une page, pas pire! D’autres petites nouvelles, j’ai entendu une nouvelle chanson par Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20) à la télévision et c’est ca que j’ecoute depuis le debut de la semaine. J’ai fait quelques achats sur E-Bay. J’ai l’intention d’essayer quelque chose de nouveau tres bientot. Je vais essayer de vendre sur E-Bay et voir comment ca va aller. Donc je viens tout juste d’acheter 20 trepieds pour appareils photo. Je les ai eu à un bon prix et maintenant je vais les mettre en vente séparrément et on va voir si ca vaut la peine. Je vais vous laisser savoir comment ca se deroule. Je continue de m’equiper pour aller faire du kayak camping. J’ai la tente, le sac de couchage et maintenant le poele. Une des raisons que je me re-équipe c’est que j’ai besoin d’equipement qui soit assez petit pour pouvoir tout mettre dans le kayak. C’est un autre de mes buts pour cet ete, essayer de faire du kayak camping.

Ce soir c’est de retour au travail pour une autre semaine, jusqua dimanche cette fois..
