Yesterday was another nice spring day. We are not used to enjoying this kind of weather in April. I am not sure if it is regular weather for this area or a result of global warning. In any case, it was another nice day, I must say we were spoiled over the week-end.

Today we had planned to do a lot of Geocaching and a little bit of exploring. We ended up doing it the other way around, lots of exploring and little geocaching.

Our first stop of the day was a geocache. At that location we found a waterfall. We went down to the river and found out while there, that we were on the wrong side of the river in relation to the geocache. So instead of climbing over, crossing the river on the bridge and going back down, we just walked across the stream. The water was cold. We found the geocache without problem and took all kinds of photos.

Second stop was to find one of the waterfalls that we had missed the day before. This time we had all the direction to get there and found it easily. We ended up with lot of good photos.

Then we tried to find 2 more geocaches without success.

As all this took some time, it was time to get back home. On our way home we did 4 more geocaches that were on the side of the road. So once again it was a good day, taking some fresh air and doing exercises.

I am back to work for another week.

Hier c’etait un autre beau jour de printemps. On n’a pas l’habitude de ce genre de temperature au mois d’avril. Je ne sais pas si c’est la temperature normale dans le coin ou si c’est le resultat du rechauffement de la planète. De toute facon une autre belle journee de printemps. On peut dire qu’on a ete pas mal gâtés en fin de semaine du cote temperature.

Notre premier arrêt de la journée a été une géocache. On a meme trouver une chute d’eau a cet endroit. On a descendu du mauvais cote de la riviere par rapport a la geocache. Faqu’au lieu de tout remonter, traverser sur le pont et redescendre on a decidé de traverser a pied. L’eau etait froide mais on a quand meme trouvé la geocache et en meme temps on a fait tout plein de photos.

Deuxième arrêt a été pour trouver la chute qu’on n’avait pas ete capable de trouver la veille. Cette fois, on avait des directions un peu plus precises, donc on l’a trouvé sans aucun problème. La encore on a fait tout plein de photos.

Comme tout ca a pris pas mal de temps. Il a fallu qu’on s’en retourne a la maison pour le souper. Sur le chemin de retour on a trouvé 4 autres geocaches sur le bord de la route. Donc, une autre bonne journée, a prendre du grand air et faire tout plein d’exercices.

La je suis comme tout le monde, de retour au travail pour une autre semaine.

Another day outdoors. I am working on a tan, no seriously it is more like a sunburn. The day started very well. Lucie, Kim, Alain and I went to do a little trail not so far away from here. The trail was very short, less than .5 km, none of the kids complained about it.

The end of the trail was worth every steps we took to get there. We found a really nice waterfall, call Lindsay falls. Quite the scenery, breathtaking. We ended up staying there longer than the time it took to get there.

We all returned home for lunch. In the afternoon we left again to find more trails and check out some other waterfalls. The kids were too tired from their morning excursion to attend. We drove about 45 minutes to get to the trail and along the way did a few geocaches. Upon arrival we found out that the whole area was under construction.

They are building a road. We were unable to find the beginning of the trail. So we turned around and went for another geocache and found a nice little spot.

Then we decided to check out one of the waterfalls. Once more we ran out of luck as the same scenario happened, couldn’t find the trail to get to the waterfall due to construction (I believe it is the same road). However this time we went across in the wood in the general direction of the fall. We got fairly close but had to turn around due to the terrain. It was too tricky to keep on going.

So after this afternoon and the lack of result on the things we wanted to do, we decided to go back home. On the way back we did a few more geocaches and found 2 covered bridges.

Even if we didn’t find what we were looking for, we had a good afternoon, taking advantage of another nice spring day. Tomorrow I think it will be more geocaching.

Un autre jour au grand air. Je travaille tranquillement sur mon bronzage, non serieusement, ca ressemble plus a un coup de soleil qu’autre chose. La journée a tres bien commencé. Lucie, Kim, Alain et moi, sommes allés faire un petit sentier pas tres loin d’ici. Le sentier etait très court, à peine.5 km, tellement court qu’aucun des enfants n’a chicané.

Ce qui se trouvait a la fin du parcours valait vraiment la peine. On est arrivé as une chute qui s’appelle la chute Lindsay. Le paysage etait tout simplement a couper le soufle. On a fini par y rester plus longtemps que le temps qu’il a fallu pour y arriver.

Ensuite on est retourne a la maison pour le diner. Dans l’après-midi, on est reparti pour aller chercher un autre sentier et d’autre chutes. Les enfants étaient trop fatigués de leur excursion matinale pour venir. On a conduit pour a peu pres 45 minutes pour arriver au sentier et en chemin on a fait quelque geocaches. Un fois arrivé a l’emplacement du sentier on a realisé que partout aux alentours il y avait des constructions. Ils construise une route.

On n’a pas ete capable de trouver le debut du sentier. On a donc fait demi tour et on est parti, en chemin on a trouvé ne autre geocache dans un beau petit coin.

Ensuite on a decidé d’aller chercher une autre chute, mais la encore on s’est retrouvé face a face avec des constructions (je crois que c’est la même route). Donc la encore on n’a pas trouvé le debut du sentier. Mais cette fois on a decidé de couper a travers le bois dans la direction general de la chute. On s’est rendu asser proche, mais a dû faire demi-tour à cause du terrain. C’etait trop abrupte pour pouvoir continuer.

Donc dans l’après-midi on n’a pas vraiment pu faire rien de ce qu’on avait planifié, on a décidé de rentrer à la maison. Sur le chemin du retour on a trouvé d’autres geocaches et 2 ponts couverts.

Même si on a pas trouvé ce que l’on voulait on a quand meme passer un bon après-midi, tout en profitant d’une belle journee de printemps. Demain, je pense qu’on va aller a la recherche d’autrse geocaches.

Finally on vacation. It started officially on Thursday at 17:00. It is going to be nice to be away from the office for a while. I will be able to recharge a bit, get some sleep and hopefully work on healing that shoulder.

That evening there was a lot of fog in town. So we went for a little walk and I did a few photos.

Vincent finished his training for park, he is now working at the visitor center.

Then on Friday it was Lucie’s birthday. In the morning as Lucie and Vincent were getting ready for work, we didn’t say anything. As soon as they were gone, Alain, Kim and I went to Deer Lake. We bought some flowers for outside, a cake and some supper. We were ready by the time she came back home. Other than that, she got a new tripod for her camera, a digital frame and a motion activated camera.

Saturday Kim, Alain and I got to work around the house. We cleaned the house a bit, then we cut the grass, planted the new flowers, washed the van and they had much fun playing with my father’s day gift, a pressure washer.

Sunday we didn’t do much, we went for a little trail today while Vincent and Lucie were working.

Later that evening,  I went back to one of the location with Lucie as she was jealous of the photos of flowers I had taken.

We all finished the day by having a little fire in the backyard.

Today everyone is off. Everybody will be able to sleep in.

We are not planning on going anywhere during my vacation as Lucie is working. That doesn’t mean I won’t be doing anything. I have several things on the agenda. The kids and I are planning to go camping, and find some geocaches. I want to update my blog, meaning the software that I use to get my blog up there in the big cyberspace, the wordpress software. This is a complicated and confusing task as if you do something wrong you run the chance of loosing everything. I have just received a harmonica and I am planning to have fun and see if I can get some note out of it.

In the meantime, next week I am going to Montreal on a really quick visit. We just bought a used car for Vincent and I will be picking it up.

We spent a lot of time looking for one in the area but had no luck so we’re buying it from one of my brother-in-law in Laval. So I am flying on Wednesday and coming back on Saturday. I will spend 2 nights at my mother’s and then back home to do all the things I mentionned above.

Enfin les vacances. Elles ont commencees officiellement Jeudi a 17h00. Ca va etre pas pire de ne pas avoir a aller au bureau pendant un bout de temps. Je vais etre capable de recharger un peu, de dormir beaucoup et j’espere que mon epaule va guerir un peu plus vite.

Ce soir-là, il y avait beaucoup de brouillard dans la ville. Alors nous sommes allés prendre une marche et j’ai fait quelques photos.

Vincent a termine son entrainement avec le Parc. Il travaille maintenant au Centre d’information des visiteurs.

Vendredi c’etait la fete a Lucie. Le matin je n’ai rien mentionne pendant que Vincent et Lucie se preparaient a aller travailler.  Aussitot qu’ils ont ete partis, Alain, Kim et moi sommes alles a Deer Lake. On a acheter des fleurs pour le panier de Lucie a l’exterieur, un gateau et le souper. On etait pas mal pret quand ils sont revenus a la maison. Autre que ca, Lucie a recu un nouveau trepied pour son appareil photo, un cadre digital et une camera activee par le mouvement.

Samedi Kim, Alain et moi, avons travaille autour de la maison. On a nettoye les planchers, coupe le gazon, plante les nouvelles fleurs a Lucie et on a nettoye la van. Les enfants ont eu beaucoup de plaisir avec mon cadeau de la fete des peres, un nettoyeur a haute pression.

Dimanche, On n’a pas fait grand chose, On est alle faire un sentier pendant que Lucie et Vincent etaient au travail.

Ce soir-la, je suis retourne a un des sentiers avec Lucie car elle etait jalouse des photos de fleurs que j’avais fait.

Nous avons tous fini la journee avec un petit feu dans la cour.

Aujourdhui, tout le monde est en conge. On va tous etre capable de faire la grasse matinee.

On n’a pas grand chose de prevu durant mes vacances car Lucie travaille, on ne va pas aller nulle part. Cela ne signifie pas que je ne vais rien faire. Kim, Alain et moi on a plusieurs choses de planifiees. On va aller faire du camping et ensuite trouver quelques Geocaches. Je veux mettre mon Blog a jour, ce que je veux dire, c’est que je vais faire un update du logiciel que j’utilise pour faire mon blog et l’envoyer sur l’internet.  Le logiciel c’est wordpress. C’est un peu complique et melangeant, si je fais quelque chose de pas correct je risque de perdre tout ce que j’ai dessus.

Finalement je viens de recevoir une harmonica et j’espere me faire bien du plaisir avec, ca c’est ci je suis capable de faire sortir des notes de cette affaire-la.

En attendant , La semaine prochaine je vais aller a Montreal pour une visite eclair. On vient d’acheter une voiture a Vincent et je vais aller la chercher.

Ca fait un bout qu’on lui cherche une voiture d’occasion et jusqu’a date on n’avait pas ete chanceux. On vient d’apprendre qu’un des mes beaux-freres en a une a vendre. Donc je pars Mercredi en avion pour Montreal. Je vais ramasser la voiture, passer quelques nuits a Quebec chez ma mere et je repars Samedi pour la maison car je dois faire tout ce que j’ai dit plus haut avec les enfants.

I was off for 3 days. You already know what I did on Tuesday, I talked about it during my last update. On Wednesday I had a few doctors appointment. It seems that it is now part of my weekly routine. I always said that we should pay the doctors when we are fine and stop paying them when we are sick. That way they would hurry up to get us better.

After these 2 doctor appointments, early in the evening, I stumbled across a vehicle fire on my way home. By the time I got there everything was over and they were cleaning up the road.

When I got home we all decided to go for a little walk. We did a little trail by the visitor center. It was a nice day, no wind at all. We told Alain that he should come with us and that it was going to be an easy and short walk. Oops we were wrong… First we took a wrong turn somewhere and it end up being much longer than expected (I didn’t take my GPS). Also we were eaten alive by mosquitoes. Alain is still talking about it.  I am sure that he won’t believe us the next time we tell him we’re going for a small trail. In the meantime I was able to get some nice photos.

On March 07 1989, I joined the force. So this year is my 20th anniversary as a member. Can you imagine, it has been 20 years already, it seems like yesterday that we moved to Newfoundland. On Thursday, we all attended the award presentation ceremony. We made it a special day just for that. We had to get the kids out of school in the middle of exam week, I think Kim and Alain didn’t mind that at all. So we went to Stephenville, about 2.5 hrs drive from here. I had to wear my red serge (can you believe It still fits after all those years?  Tight a little, but it still fits) During the ceremony I received my long service medal for 20 years of service. So 20 years done, what next… Another 20, not likely but at least a few more.

J’etais en conge pour 3 jours. Vous savez deja ce qu’on a fait mardi, j’en ai parle dans ma derniere mise a jour. Le mercredi, j’avais quelque rendez-vous avec des docteurs. Ca fait maintenant partie de ma routine hebdomadaire. J’ai toujours dit qu’on devrait payer les docteurs quand on est en sante et arreter de les payer quand on est malade. De cette façon, ils se depecheraient de nous remettre en forme.

Apres mes 2 rendez-vous avec les docteurs, en debut de soiree, je suis tombe sur une scene d’accident sur mon chemin de retour, un vehicule en feu. Lorsque je suis arrive tout etait fini et ils etaient entrain de nettoyer la route.

Finalement quand je suis arrive a la maison, on a tous decider d’aller faire une petite promenade. On a ete faire un petit sentier au centre des visiteurs. C’etait une belle soiree sans vent. On a dit a Alain de venir avec nous et que ce serait une petite promenade facile, de courte distance. Oups, on s’est trompe … Tout d’abord, on a pris un mauvais tournant et ca a fini par etre plus long que prevu (je n’avais pas mon GPS). Ensuite on s’est fait manger tout cru par les moustiques. Alain en parle encore. Je suis sur que la prochaine fois il ne nous croira pas si on lui dit qu’on va faire un petit sentier. En attendant j’ai quand meme fait quelques photos interessantes.

Le 07 Mars 1989, j’ai joint la GRC. Donc cette annee est mon 20ieme anniversaire en tant que membre. Y avez-vous pense? Deja 20 ans!  Il semble que c’etait hier que nous avons demenage a Terre-Neuve. Donc le jeudi, on est tous alle a la ceremonie de remise des medailles. On en a fait une journee speciale juste pour ca. On a du sortir les enfants de l’ecole en plein millieu des examens de fin d’annee, Kim et Alain ne s’en sont pas plaint.  Vincent travaillait et comme c’etait seulement sa quatrieme journee pour le Parc, il ne pouvait pas vraiment deja demande un conge donc il n’a pas pu venir avec nous. On est donc alle a Stephenville, c’est a environ 2,5 heures de route d’ici. J’ai du porter mon red serge (mais il me fait encore, meme apres 20 ans, c’est serre un peu, mais quand meme…) Durant la ceremonie, j’ai reçu ma medaille d’anciennete pour 20 ans de service. Bon 20 ans de fait, c’est quoi qui suit… Un autre 20, je ne pense pas, mais tout du moins quelque annees de plus.

I went to see the Orthopedist yesterday, guess what, I am on light duty for another month. Not good.

Today was a beautiful summer day. We dropped the kids to school and then Vincent to work. Then we left for the Lomond River trail. Two reasons we chose to do this trail. First there was a Geocache on the trail that we had never found before.

We tried to find it some time ago but we got surprised by the rain. So we had to try again. This time we found it, no problem. The second reason is that this is one of our favorite trails in the Gros Morne park.

On the way back we did the South East fall trail. This is a small little trail that brings us to guess what?  A waterfall, what else…

So all in all it was a real good day outside of the house.

Je suis alle voir l’orthopediste hier, devinez quoi?  Je suis en travaux legers pour un autre mois.

Aujourd’hui c’etait une belle journee d’ete. On a emmene les enfants a l’ecole et ensuite Vincent au travail. Tout de suite apres on est alle faire le sentier de la Riviere Lomond. On avait deux raisons pour faire ce sentier la. Tout d’abord il y avait une Geocache en plein milieu qu’on n’avait pas trouve encore.

On avait essaye de la trouver il y a un bout de temps. Mais on s’etait fait surprendre par la pluie. Il nous fallait donc essayer de nouveau. Cette fois, on l’a trouve sans probleme. La deuxième raison, c’est que c’est une de nos sentiers preferes dans le parc de Gros Morne.

Sur le chemin du retour on a arrete pour faire le sentier des chutes de South East. Il s’agit d’un petit sentier qui nous ont emmenes a des chutes….

Donc en fin de compte on a eu une bonne journee a l’exterieur de la maison.
