We had company last week end. My sister, her boyfriend and my mother. First time since we are in New-Brunswick that people come to visit us. We should be able to have more visitors now that we are closer to our home province.

They all arrived here on Thursday, late in the afternoon. We had supper and then we went for a little drive to show them the town. We spent the rest of the evening catching up with all the news.

The next day we went to Oromocto River, we had found a little spot to launch our kayaks and a not so frequented area of the river. We went there for a little picnic. We had taken the kayaks, the cameras and the swimming suits. We had a great day relaxing by the river and took turn kayaking,

geocaching, swimming or just hanging around the beach. We even saw some great herons on the river.

When we got back home, we had a nice supper, BBQ and we went for ice cream for desert.

The next day we went to King’s Landing. This is about ½ hr’s drive from home. King’s Landing is a Historical settlement.

We had a really good afternoon walking around the site and visiting old houses.

It goes without saying that we took a lot of photos during the day.

On the way back home we stopped in Fredericton and had supper at a restaurant. This was a special day as it was Lucie’s Birthday (thanks to Mom for the restaurant). After supper we went in Fredericton for a little walk as we needed a bit of exercise to digest our supper.

It is too bad that good things have to end. Our company had to leave on Sunday morning in order to be back home on time for work on Monday morning.

We had a really good week-end and lot of fun. We are expecting more visitors next week, I will keep you posted.

On a eu de la visite la fin de semaine derniere. Ma soeur, son chum et ma mere. C’etait la premiere fois qu’on avait de la visite depuis qu’on a demenagé au Nouveau-Brunswick. On devrait avoir plus de visiteurs maintenant qu’on est plus proche de la parenté.

Ils sont arrivés le jeudi, en fin d’après-midi. On a soupé et ensuite on a ete se promener en ville pour leur montrer un peu ca ressemble a quoi notre coin. Ensuite on a passé le reste de la soiree a jaser.

Le lendemain, on est tous allé sur le bord de la riviere Oromocto, Il y a quelques jours, on avait trouvé un petit coin pour pourvoir lancer nos kayaks a l’eau, petit coin un peu moins fréquenté par les bateaux a moteurs. On avait decidé de faire un pique nique et de se la couler douce pour l’apres midi. On a donc pris les kayaks, les caméras et les maillots de bain. On a eu un bon apres-midi de detente sur le bord de la riviere. On a chacun pris un tour a faire du kayak,

géocaching, se baigner ou tout simplement relaxer sur le bord de la riviere. On a meme eu la chance de voir des herons sur le bord de la riviere.

Quand on est retourné à la maison, on a eu un bon souper, BBQ et ensuite on est allé pour de la crème glacée pour le dessert.

Le lendemain on est allé à King’s Landing. C’est a environ ½ heure de route de la maison. King’s Landing est un village historique.

On a eu un tres bon après-midi, en marchant le long et en visitant toute les vieilles maisons.

Il va sans dire qu’on a pris un bon nombre de photos durant la journée.

Sur le chemin du retour on s’est arrêté à Fredericton et on a eu le souper au restaurant. C’etait une occasion special car c’était l’anniversaire de Lucie (un gros merci a ma mere pour le restaurant). Après le souper, on est allé se promener dans Fredericton, histoire de digérer un peu.

C’est bien dommage que les bonnes choses doivent avoir une fin. Notre visite a dû nous quitter le dimanche matin afin d’être de retour à temps pour le travail lundi matin.

En fin de compte on a eu une tres bonne fin de semaine en famille. Nous attendons quelques autres visiteurs la semaine prochaine, je vous tiendrai au courant.

This week end, well guess what? We went kayaking. We had really nice weather on Saturday and decided to go and explore Oromocto river a little bit more.

We had a good time, however there is way too much boat traffic in that area. The power boat don’t even slow down for us kayaker. So we will have to find a new area to go kayaking. We were spoiled in Newfoundland when kayaking we didn’t see a sould for miles over there.

But just the same it was a day on the river and we had fun. We even found a geocache on Oromocto Island, only accessible by the water.

Ce week end, devinez quoi? On est allé faire du Kayak. Samedi. La temperature etait parfaite et on a décidé d’aller explorer la rivière Oromocto un peu plus.

On a eu du fun, mais il y a beaucoup trop de circulation de bateaux dans ce coin-la. Les bateaux à moteur ne ralentissent même pas pour nous les kayakeurs. Donc, on va devoir se trouver un nouveau coin pour aller faire du kayak. On a été pas mal gâté à Terre-Neuve pour aller faire du kayak. on ne voyait personnes pour des kilomètres.  Mais on a quand meme passé une journee sur la riviere et on a bien apprecié malgré le traffic.

On a même trouvé une géocache sur l’île d’Oromocto, accessible uniquement par l’eau.

And yes another day outside. The plan this morning was to go to McAdam. Vincent had noted a Geocache that was on an island and so far no one had found it. So we had a chance for a first to find. We packed all the kayaking gear, put both kayak on the roof and off we went.

Along the way we stopped a few times for Vincent to do some Geocaches, Lucie and I had found these ones last week.

We arrived at our destination about a hour and a half later. It took us some time to find a good spot to launch our kayaks. Vincent and I went for the Geocache while Lucie stayed behind.

We paddled for 6 kms to the island. All the way in we had the wind against us and we had to work extra hard. It is not easy to try to keep up with a 20 year old. It is in these occasion that one finds out that he is not as young as he used to be. All that I am saying is that I had lot of exercise for one day.

We arrived at the island and found the Geocaches without any problem, however we were beaten by a few hours, someone else had already found it “today”…

We were not the first to find it, however we still had lots of fun.

So another good day, kayaking / geocaching / photography, all that in beautiful weather. Tomorrow Vincent and I are going Geocaching once more, I am trying to get to 300 geocaches found.

Et oui une autre journee au grand air. Le plan ce matin était d’aller à McAdam. Vincent avait remarqué une Geocache qui se trouvait sur une île et qui n’avait pas encore été trouvée. Donc, on avait la chance d’etre les premiers a la trouver. On a tout emballé l’equipement de kayak et on as mis les 2 kayaks sur le toit de la voiture et on est parti pour la grande aventure.

Apres 1 ½ de route on est finalement arrivé a destination. Ca nous a pris un peu de temps pour trouver un endroit ou lancer nos kayaks. Vincent et moi sommes partis pour faire la Geocache, Lucie de son coté est restée a nous attendre.

On a pagayé jusqu’a l’île, environ 6 kms. Durant tout le trajet on avait le vent dans la face, faqu’on a du travailler un peu plus fort. C’est pas evident d’essayer de suivre un jeune de 20 ans. C’est dans ces occasions que je remarque que je ne suis plus aussi jeune que je le pense. Tout ce que je veux dire, c’est que j’ai fait beaucoup d’exercices pour une journée.

On est finalement arrivé à l’île et on a trouvé la Géocache sans aucun problème, mais on s’’est fait battre par quelques heures, quelqu’un d’autre l’avait déjà trouvé “aujourd’hui” …

On etait pas les premiers mais on a quand meme eu beaucoup de plaisir.

Donc une autre bonne journée a faire: kayak / geocaching / photographie, tout ca dans une temperature tout simplement parfaite. Demain Vincent et moi, on va encore faire du Geocaching, je veux essayer de depasser les 300 caches trouvées.

I know it has been quite some time since the last time I updated my blog. I was busy working and on my days off I played games on playstation 3 for the last few weeks. So really nothing new until today, so here I am.

Before talking about today, 3 weeks ago, we went for a walk on Sunday evening right after supper to get our meal down, hamburgers on the BBQ. We had the chance to see a nice sunset.

Last week we spent Sunday geocaching. We all left in the morning and went to McAdam. There is a old train station that I wanted to show everybody.

Along the way we found a few geocaches. We had a real good family day. Although the kids were tired when we got home, we still enjoyed it (I think… they didn’t want to come with us this week). We found 14 geocaches during the day.

Today we had nice weather, so we went for a day on the water. We went kayaking on Maquapit Lake which is about ½ hour drive from home.

Again along the way we did some geocaching, we found 8 new geocaches.

Then we spend 4 hrs on the water. I had a real good time. Nice weather, nice river, kayaking what else can you ask for.

Tomorrow if the weather is nice, we are going Geocaching. I will let you know how that went.

Je sais que ca fait un petit bout de temps depuis la dernière fois que j’ai fait une mise à jour de mon blog. J’ai été occupé au travail et durant mes journées de congé j’ai passé mon temps a jouer des jeux sur mon PlayStation 3. Donc pas vraiment de nouveau jusqu’à aujourd’hui. C’est la raison que je suis là.

Avant de parler d’aujourd’hui, il y a environ 3 semaines, on est allé faire une marche apres un gros souper du dimanche, pour digerer un peu les hamburgers sur le barbecue. On a eu la chance de voir un tres beau coucher de soleil.

La semaine dernière, on a passé dimanche a faire du Geocaching. On est parti le matin en direction de McAdam, Je voulais montrer è la famille une vielle gare.

En chemin, on a cherché quelques Geocaches. En fin de compte on a passé une bonne journee en famille. Les enfants etait fatigués et chialeux a la fin de la journee, mais je pense qu’ils ont quand meme bien aime ca (en tout cas je pense… ils n’ont pas voulu venir aujourd’hui). On a trouvé 14 Geocaches dans la journée.

Aujourd’hui comme on avait du beau temps, On est allé passer la journée sur l’eau. On est allé faire du kayak sur le lac Maquapit qui est a environ une demi heure de voiture de la maison.

Encore une fois, en route on a fait du Geocaching, On a trouvé 8 Geocaches.

Ensuite on a passé 4 heures sur l’eau. J’ai vraiment aimé ma journee. Beau temps, belle rivière, kayak, quoi demander d’autre?

Demain, si la temperature le permet, on va aller faire du Geocaching. Je vais vous dire comment ça s’est passé.

We ended up having another nice spring day. The conditions were perfect for kayaking.

The water level was high. That enabled us to kayak on an island that was completely submerged. That was fun be able to kayak amongst the trees.

Now I remember why I missed kayaking so much, what a day. We were on the water for 3 hours.  We had a good time and I hope that we will do that again soon.

Tomorrow we are planning to do a trail that leads to a little water fall, that is if the weather is still cooperating with us. In the meantime we are doing lots of exercise so far this week end. 6.5 km yesterday looking for geocaches and today we paddle for 8 km. My shoulder is bothering me a little tonight, but it was worthwhile.

En fin de compte, une autre tres belle journee de printemps. Les conditions étaient parfaites pour faire du kayak.

Le niveau d’eau de la riviere était élevé. Cela nous a permis de faire du kayak sur une île qui été complètement submergée. C’était pas mal le fun de pouvoir faire du kayak au travers des arbres.

Maintenant, je me rappelle pourquoi ca me manquait tellement de faire du kayak, toute qu’une journee. On a ete sur l’eau environ 3 heures.  J’ai vraiment bien apprecié et j’espère que nous allons en refaire bientôt.

Demain, on prevoit aller faire un sentier qui mène à une chute, ca c’est si la temperature est encore de notre cote.  En attendant, on a fait pas mal d’exercice à date en fin de semaine. hier 6.5 km à la recherche de géocaches et aujourd’hui, on a pagayé pour 8 km. Mon épaule m’achale un peu ce soir, mais ça vallait vraiment la peine.

For a change, the weather was nice while on my day off. Lucie and Vincent were working and Kim and Alain were in their room. So I loaded the kayak on the top of the van and got all my gear.

At noon, I gave Vincent a ride to work and I was on my way. I decided to go to Rocky Harbour pond.

I paddle around the pond, took me about 1 ½ hours.

What a nice day. I took all my time and enjoyed it to the maximum. I took few photos and even did some videos.

After returning home, I told Alain and Kim that I would bring them swimming. So we went back to Rocky Harbour pond where they were able to cool down a bit.

If the weather is cooperating tomorrow I am planning to do the same thing. This time I will take Alain and Kim when I leave, so they will have plenty of time for swimming while I am having fun with my kayak.

So I had a really good day.

Pour changer, la temperature etait de mon cote durant ma journee de conge. Lucie et Vincent travaillaient et Kim et Alain etaient dans leur chambre. J’ai donc mis le kayak sur le toit de la van et pris tout mon equipement.

A midi, j’ai emmener Vincent a l’ouvrage et je suis parti. J’ai décidé d’aller a l’etang de Rocky Harbour.

J’ai fait la circonference de l’etang, ce qui m’a pris environ 1 heure et demi. Quelle belle journee. J’ai pris tout mon temps et j’en ai profite au maximum. J’ai pris quelques photos et même quelques vidéos.

Lorsque je suis retourne a la maison, j’ai emmene Alain et Kim pour se baigner. On est retourne a l’etang de Rocky Harbour étang ou ils on ete capable de se rafraichir un peu.

Si demain la temperature est encore de notre cote, je vais faire la meme chose. Ce coup-ci, je vais emmener Alain et Kim en meme temps que moi, ils vont pouvoir se baigner pendant que je me fais du fun avec mon kayak.
