What a week / Quelle semaine

Last week was another busy week, especially work related. I will spare you all the details, just tell you that I got called out once in the middle of the night and on another occasion had a fight with a guy (I won, he got arrested and charged with assault on a police officer, me…).

Lucie was gone for the first half of the week, she went to a camp with Alain, this was organized by the school and they needed some chaperons. So I ended up with Kim and Vincent at home. I did pretty well considering.

Monday I worked all day and upon my return home Kim and I went for a walk. The same night I got called out in the middle of the night and only came home at around 10:30 the next morning, because of that I ended up sleeping all day Tuesday.

The rest of the week was mainly work work work. Arresting and charging people, when not fighting with them.

Friday was my first day off and Lucie and I went for a walk all morning.

Saturday I didn’t do much, Lucie and Kim went for a shopping trip in Corner Brook, Mother, daughter kind of thing, so I just stayed home. Kim is planning to start some kind of small business this summer, she will be selling crafts. So that was one of the reason they went shopping, they needed supplies. Sunday we all went for a drive and went looking for geocaches.

Of course I also took a lot of photos. Most of the photos are already in my gallery. I started a new page on my blog with a small description of all the park trails that we are going to do this summer.

So that was my week in less than a page, not bad. In other news, I heard a new song by Rob Thomas (matchbox 20) on tv and that is all I have been listening to since the beginning of the week. I did a few purchases on E-Bay. I will be trying something new soon, I am trying to sell things on E-bay and see how it goes. For that reason I just bought 20 camera tripods. Got them at a nice price and now I will resell them and see if it is worthwhile. I will let you know how thing are going. I am also slowly getting all the stuff that I need to go Kayak camping. Got the tent, sleeping bags, and stove. The main reason that I have to get new stuff is that I want everything small so it all can fit in the kayak. This is another goal for the summer, try Kayak camping.

Well tonight is back to work for another week, until Sunday this time.

La semaine dernière a été une autre semaine occupée, particulièrement au travail. Je vais vous épargner les details, mais juste vous dire que j’ai été appellé au milieu de la nuit et à une autre occasion j’ai dû me battre avec un gars. (Au fait, j’ai gagné, il a été arrêté et charge pour assaut sur un officier de police, moi…).

Lucie a été partie pendant la moitie de la semaine. Elle est allée a un camp avec l’ecole pour la classe de Alain. Ils avaient besoin de chaperons et elle a decidé de se porter volontaire. Je suis donc resté a la maison avec Kim et Vincent. Je me suis pas mal bien debrouillé en fin de compte. Lundi j’ai travaillé toute la journee et apres le retour a la maison, moi et Kim sommes aller prendre une marche. Plus tard dans la soiree je me suis fait appellé pour travailler et je ne suis revenu que mardi matin vers 10:30am. Donc j’ai passé le reste de la journee à dormir.

Le reste de la semaine a ete travail, travail, travail. Particulierement, arreter et charger du monde, je ne sais pas ce qu’il y avait dans l’air.

Vendredi était mon premier jour de conge. On en a donc profiter pour aller faire un sentier pendant la majeur partie de l’avant midi.

Samedi, je n’ai pas fait grand chose, Lucie et Kim sont allées faire du magasinage a Corner Brook. Une sortie mere et fille, donc je suis resté a la maison. Kim a l’intention de se lancer en affaire et vendre de l’artisanat cet ete. C’est pour cette raison qu’elles sont allées à Corner Brook, afin d’acheter des choses pour ça.  Dimanche nous sommes tous aller faire une ballade en auto et chercher des geocaches, en meme temps j’ai fait pas mal de photos.

La plupart des photos sont déjà dans ma galerie. J’ai commencé une nouvelle page sur mon blog au sujet des sentiers de Gros Morne.

C’etait donc ma semaine en moins d’une page, pas pire! D’autres petites nouvelles, j’ai entendu une nouvelle chanson par Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20) à la télévision et c’est ca que j’ecoute depuis le debut de la semaine. J’ai fait quelques achats sur E-Bay. J’ai l’intention d’essayer quelque chose de nouveau tres bientot. Je vais essayer de vendre sur E-Bay et voir comment ca va aller. Donc je viens tout juste d’acheter 20 trepieds pour appareils photo. Je les ai eu à un bon prix et maintenant je vais les mettre en vente séparrément et on va voir si ca vaut la peine. Je vais vous laisser savoir comment ca se deroule. Je continue de m’equiper pour aller faire du kayak camping. J’ai la tente, le sac de couchage et maintenant le poele. Une des raisons que je me re-équipe c’est que j’ai besoin d’equipement qui soit assez petit pour pouvoir tout mettre dans le kayak. C’est un autre de mes buts pour cet ete, essayer de faire du kayak camping.

Ce soir c’est de retour au travail pour une autre semaine, jusqua dimanche cette fois..

Kayak, Geocache

We had a few good and busy days…  As mentionned previously, we went to Corner Brook on wednesday. We saw 4 moose during the trip. We then went back home and had a quick supper. All the family then went to Rocky Harbour lookout. We hid our first geocache, which is already registered on the official geocache’s website. While I was there I did a another time lapse of the sunset. This time it was quite nice, the only problem was it was windy and cold and for some reason my camera battery doesn’t like the cold and died before the end. But still came out quite nice. It is in my time lapse section.

Thursday, I got up early again, and this time we went to do a part of the Gros Morne trail. We did about 2 km that felt like about 10. There is still lots of snow and lots of water in the woods… By the time we got out, we were just soked and wet. While doing the trail, the office called me on my cell. They wanted me to go to work on the week end. I was able to tell them no!  It is not something I do often but enough is enough…. First time in 18 years…

All day it was quite windy but around supper time the wind died down. That is all I needed, got the kayak on the roof of the van and we went to Mill Brooks.

The whole family came along. I wonder if they were hoping to see me fall in the water. Too bad for them because I did not. This sport can be quite addictive, while paddling I was telling myself, I will just go to the next point to see what is on the other side, then I would notice another one and say the same thing… By the time I came back to where I started I had done 4 km. On the way back, I had the setting sun right in front of me. The water was like a mirror. This was my first time watching a sunset in a kayak, hopefully not the last one. What a feeling, everything was calm and serene. This is exactly for these kind of moments I bought a kayak. What a good time!

While talking about kayak, on Wednesday I bought 2 small sleeping bags and I bought a small backpacking tent from e-bay. They are both extra small so I will be able to store them in my kayak. I plan on going for a kayaking week-end this summer.

Today, Friday it was too windy to even try kayaking, however it was nice and sunny. So we went to Trout River to find two geocaches. Both were on small trails heading to a lookout. After climbing for a while and huffing and puffing, we managed to find both of them. During the trip to and back from Trout River we saw 9 moose.

Tonight we went to Rocky Hill trail and hid another geocache. So this is my second one. By the way someone already found the first one we hid on wednesday. We had to come back home as it started to rain. We have another one ready and weather permitting we will hide it tomorrow.

So lots of fresh air and great outdoors during the last few days… Because of that I now need to work on all the photos that I took during those days and post them in my gallery, will be done soon. Also I am working on a way to be able to save all the location where we went on Google Earth. When I figure it out, I will do a new page with all my geocache find. Nous avons des bonnes journees dernièrement. Comme j’ai mentionné nous sommes allés a Corner Brook Mercredi. On a vu 4 orignaux durant le trajet. On est retournee a la maison et on a eu un souper en vitesse. On est tous (toute la famille) aller au belvedere de Rocky Harbour. On a cacher notre premier geocache, qui est déjà enregistré sur le site officiel de Geocaching. En meme temps j’en ai profité pour faire une autre serie de photo pour photo en temps continu. Une autre tentative a essayé de capturer un coucher de soleil. Cette fois il faisait beau, le seul problème c’est que c’etait venteux et froid et la batterie de ma camera n’aime pas ca.  Elle est morte avant la fin du coucher de soleil. Mais ca a bien sorti quand meme, c’est dans ma section temps continu.

Jeudi matin, lever de bonne heure encore… Cette fois nous sommes alles faire une partie du sentier de Gros Morne. On a marché a peu pres 2 km qui ont semblés plutôt comme 10km. La raison c’est qu’il y as encore beaucoup de neige et d’eau dans les sentiers, par le temps qu’on est revenue a la voiture on avait tout les deux les pieds bien mouillés. En plein millieu du sentier j’ai recu un appel du bureau sur mon cellulaire me demandant si je pouvais rentrer travailler durant la fin de semaine. Et bien je leur ai dit non, faut dire que c’est pas quelque chose qui arrive souvent que je refuse, mais quand meme, il ont pas mal de front… C’etait la premiere fois en 18 ans que je dis non.

Durant toute la journee ca a ete pas mal venteux, mais juste un peu apres l’heure du souper le vent est tombé. C’est tout ce que j’avais besoin, j’ai mis le kayak sur le toit de la van est on est tous parti pour Mill Brooks.

Toute la famille est venue, je me demande s’ils esperaient me voir tomber dans la flotte. J’ai du les decevoir car je suis resté sec toute la soiree. Faire du kayak peut creer de la dependance. Je me promenais et je me disais, je vais aller voir apres la prochaine pointe de terre, rendu la j’en voyais une autre et me disais je vais aller voir ce qu’il y a de l’autre bord. Ca a donné que quand je suis revenu j’avais fait un peu plus de 4 km. En revenant j’avais le soleil en face de moi et j’ai eu droit a un vraiment beau coucher de soleil. L’eau était comme un miroir. C’etait mon premier coucher de soleil vu d’un kayak, j’espere que ce n’est pas le dernier. Tout etait calme et serein. C’est exactement pour ce genre de moment que j’ai acheté un kayak.

En parlant de kayak, mercredi j’ai acheté 2 petits sacs de couchage et j’ai commander une tente sur e-bay. Les deux sont petits et vont pouvoir se placer dans mon kayak. Je prevois aller faire une excursion d’une fin de semaine en kayak cette ete.

Aujourd’hui, vendredi, c’etait trop venteux pour faire du kayak faqu’on a decidé d’aller chercher des geocaches. On est donc parti pour Trout River. Les deux geocaches etait cachés à des points d’observation. Apres avoir perdu notre souffle une couple de fois et s’etre plaint d’etre trop vieux et de trop fumer, on les a trouvés tous les deux. Durant le trajet (aller et retour) on a vu 9 orignaux. Tout de suite apres le souper on a ete a Rocky Hill et on a caché un autre geocache avec les enfants. On a du revenir a la maison car il a commencé a plevoir. On espère en cacher une autre demain si la temperature le permet. D’ailleurs quelqu’un a déjà trouvé le premier geocache que nous avons placé mercredi.

Durant les derniers jours j’ai pris ma dose de grand air et d’exercices. Ca donne que maintenant je doit travaillé sur toutes les photos que j’ai prises ces derniers jours et les mettre dans ma galerie. Je vais faire ca bientot. Je vais aussi essayer de voir s’il y a moyen de sauver tous les endroits que l’on visite sur Google Earth. Si je trouve comment faire je vais faire une nouvelle page avec tous mes geocaches. Days Off / Conge

Monday morning I got up early for someone who is off work for a few days. The weather was not nice, it was raining a bit, so I decided to stay in and spend some time reading the tons of e-mails that were waiting for me.

Around dinner time the weather cleared up and a shy sun showed up for a while. So we decided to go and do some small trails in the area, just to get some fresh air. There are still lots of snow in the woods but we managed. As you can see from the picture, there are some moose droppings too, lots of them…

I took a lot of photos. We ended up doing 2 small trails.

I received my 2 kayak dvd’s that I had ordered some time ago on e-bay. I watched a bit of it in the afternoon. This is torture, I just want to go out now. I had to stop watching them when the kids came back from school. They are in charge of the television you know…

Right after supper I went to a little look-out here in Rocky Harbour with Vincent, Kim and Alain. I was hoping to do a nice time lapse of a sunset. The time lapse came out ok, however the sunset was not much to see as it was too cloudy. I am planning to set up my own geocache, so while walking we looked for hiding places for them.

Tuesday morning, I once again got up early for someone not working. Again the weather was kind of bad, cloud and rain. At around 10:00 am, I decided that I would go for a little drive to Woody Point. One of the reason is there are 2 geocaches in the area. So we left, on the way we saw several moose. Today in total we saw 8 of them. When we left it was not raining, the closer we got the more it came down. So by the time we got there it was raining. I didn’t spend all this gas for nothing, so we went anyway. I did manage to find both of the cache, it was  cool, especially since they were on trails that aren’t all that well known and it gave us an opportunity to discover them.

On the way back we saw some more moose and a few ducks.

Tomorrow is shopping day, so we are heading to Corner Brook early in the morning.

Hopefully the weather will be nice on thursday and I will be able to do something.

J’aime particulièrement l’écureuil.

Lundi matin je me suis levé de bonne heure pour quelqu’un en congé. La temperature etait pas vargeuse, un peu de pluie, donc j’ai decidé de rattraper le temps perdu et de lire la tonne de e-mails qui m’attendaient.

Vers l’heure du diner, le temps s’est éclairci et un soleil timide est apparu pour un bout. On a decidé d’aller faire quelques sentiers pas loin d’ici, pour prendre de l’air un peu. Il y a encore pas mal de neige dans le bois, mais on s’est debrouillé. Comme vous pouvez le voir sur la photo, il y avait aussi pas mal de p’tits cadeaux d’orignaux, pas mal beaucoup, fallait regarder ou on mettait les pieds par endroit…

J’ai pris beaucoup de photos. On a fini par faire 2 sentiers.

J’ai reçu mes 2 dvds de kayak que j’avais commandé il y a pas mal de temps sur e-bay. J’ai commencé a en regarder un dans l’apres-midi. C’est pas drole ca, c’est vraiment de la torture, maintenant tout ce que je veux faire c’est d’aller en faire. J’ai dû arreter de le regarder quand les enfants sont revenus de l’école. Ils sont en charge de la television vous savez.

Tout de suite apres le souper je suis allé au belvedere de Rocky Harbour avec Vincent, Kim et Alain. J’espérais faire de la photo en temps continu du coucher de soleil. Ca a sorti pas mal, mais pas comme esperé, il y avait trop de nuage. J’espere pouvoir cacher ma propre geocache bientot, faqu’en meme temps on a cherché un bon endroit pour le cacher.

Mardi matin, je me suis encore levé de bonne heure pour quelqu’un qui ne travaille pas. Encore une fois la temperature n’etait pas vraiment de notre coté. Des nuages et de la pluie. A environ 10:00 AM, j’ai quand meme décidé d’aller faire une promenade en voiture jusqu’a Woody Point. La principale raison, c’est qu’il y a 2 geocaches pas loin de la. Donc on est parti, sur le chemin on a vu plusieurs orignaux. Dans la journee on en a vu 8 en tout. Quand nous sommes partis il ne pleuvait pas, mais plus on se rapprochait de Woody Point, plus c’est devenu mauvais. Par le temps qu’on est arrivé il pleuvait. Je n’ai pas dépensé tout ce gaz pour rien, donc on a decidé d’y aller de toute facon. On n’est pas fait en chocolat. J’ai reussi a trouver les 2 geocaches et je me suis bien amusé.

Sur le chemin de retour on a vu d’autre orignaux et quelques canards.

Toutes mes photos récentes sont maintenant dans ma galerie et j’ai 3 nouvelles photos en temps continu. Allez jeter un coup d’oeil.

Demain c’est la commande d’epicerie a Corner Brook, donc lever tot le matin. Si je suis chanceux peut etre que la temperature sera de mon coté jeudi et que je vais pouvoir faire quelque chose.

Back Home (again) / Retour a la Maison (encore)

Where to start? Just came back this morning, early this morning. As I have mentioned in my last update I was in St John’s since last wednesday.

Vincent and I left last Wednesday at around 10:30am. The trip went well.

I had taken some coordinates for geocaching along the way. I had 4 altogether put in my gps but we found 2. I don’t know where the other 2 were, we searched and searched but did not find them. But it still was quite enjoyable and gave us little breaks along the way. Just enough to stretch and walk a bit. During the whole trip we saw only one moose and it was just after we left in Gros Morne park.

With all that it took us 9hrs to arrive in Harbour Grace. Upon arrival we just crashed in our hotel room and took it easy.

The next day (thursday) I had court. Vincent stayed in the hotel room and I went to the courthouse. I stayed there all day and finally did not give my testimony. Long boring day, just waiting around to be called to testify and nothing happened.

That evening we went to the SPLASH center just to say hi to a few people. Right after that we went to the Harbour Grace air field. This is a historical air field used by Amelia Earhart (http://www.ameliaearhart.com/home.php) during the famous airplane trip. We went there as I knew there was a geocache, however I did not have the coordinates in my gps, the result is that we did not find it. Oh well….

After that we went for a nice supper at the hotel. It was on of those rare time that Vincent did not finish is plate. I must say we ate a lot.

Next day (friday) was back to court, same scenario, spent the day waiting and did not take the stand. This means that I will have to go back in September for the continuation of the trial.

Saturday morning we got up early, too early if you ask me, 05:30am. The reason is we had to be in St John’s by 08:30am. It is not only the travel but we had to pack everything again and clean the room. We arrived at the Capital Hotel way ahead of time, if I had known that I would have slept in…. Vincent registered and then he did his speech. He was the last one to make his presentation. Although he was nervous and forgot a small part of his speech he did a really good job. I am very proud of him, doing a presentation in front of all these strangers in his second language is quite impressive in my book.

After that we had the afternoon off until the banquet later in the evening. So we took advantage that we were in the big city and went for a little shopping. Go figure we weren’t too far from the kayak store, I had to go and browse around. Bought a few new things for my kayak. A car roof and some wet suit shoes.

Then we went to the banquet. This went well, unfortunately Vincent did not made it to the National. That did not matter as I am still very much proud of what he did. However, one good thing came out of all that, one men from Rocky Harbour was there as his daughter was competing as well. He offered a summer job for Vincent as an interpreter on the Western Brook tour boat. He will go and see him later this week. One of the main reason for the offer is the fact that Vincent is fluent in both languages. Cool isn’t it? So after a nice meal, we both decided to make it back home the same night.

We left St John’s at 09:15pm and arrived in Rocky Harbour at 05:00 am. We thought that this way we would avoid all the traffic and take it easy all the way in. We did avoid the traffic, but we had snow all the way. Enough to not be able to put the high beam on. We saw a moose, very close, and it was fortunate that there was another car coming the other way at the time, because if it hadn’t been the case I would not have seen him in time. The car’s headlight just silhouetted him, it was kind of spooky, like a x-files effect. The only thing that came out of my mouth at the time was oh shit……… But we were able to avoid him. For the rest of the trip we slowed down, at least until my heartbeat came back to normal.

We saw 8 more just a few kilometers from home, all in the park.

I slept most of the day today, picking up the lost sleep from the last few weeks. I am finally off after 17 days work in a row. I am off for the next 12 days, they owe me quite a few. I am planning a few things during these few days off, first and foremost, relax, then doing some kayak, going on some trails, doing some geocaching and taking a lot of photos, doing more time lapse, busy schedule.

This afternoon while checking my e-mail, I found out that some new people had registered to my blog. It is cool that people register to my blog, even if it’s not advertised that much. Sometimes I just wonder how I’m found. I also got some news from someone that I knew long time ago. That person found me with my blog. I used to be a scout leader way, way back, we are talking close to 20-30 years ago, wow how old I am? Don’t answer…  That is fine… He was then a scout with me. It’s really nice to hear from you Stephane. It did bring back some very good memories.

So that is all the news, I am going to crash on the couch tonight and watch a movie that the kids had rented yesterday. Will tell you more about it tomorrow.
 

Et bien par ou commencer ? On est revenu tres tot ce matin. Comme j’ai mentionné dans ma dernière mise à jour j’étais a St Jean depuis mercredi passé.

Vincent et moi sommes donc parti mercredi dernier à environ 10:30 AM. Le voyage s’est bien deroulé.

J’avais sauvé quelques coordonnees de geocaching dans mon gps pour le voyage. En tout j’en avais sauvé 4 mais en fin de compte on en a trouvé juste 2. Je ne sais pas trop où les autres 2 sont, nous avons cherché et cherché partout et on les a pas trouvés. Mais ca a été pas mal le fun, au moins ca nous a fait sortir de l’auto un peu, prendre l’air et nous degourdir. Durant tout le voyage on as vu juste un orignal et c’etait juste un peu apres la maison dans le parc de Gros Morne.

Ca nous a pris 9hrs de route pour arriver a Harbour Grace. En arrivant on s’est juste ecrasé dans notre chambre d’hotel et on se l’est coulé douce.

Le jour suivant (jeudi) j’ai eu de la court. Vincent est resté dans la chambre d’hôtel et je suis allé au tribunal. Je suis resté là toute la journée et finalement n’ai pas temoigner. Un jour long et ennuyeux, passé a attendre pour se faire appeler a témoigner et rien ne s’est produit.

Durant la soiree, nous sommes allés au centre SPLASH  juste pour dire salut à quelques amis. Tout de suite apres nous sommes allé a la piste d’atterissage de Harbour Grace. Vraiment c’est juste un grand champ, mais c’est un lieu historique qui a ete utilisé par Amelia Earhart ( http://www.ameliaearhart.com/home.php ) pendant son voyage d’avion celebre. Nous sommes allés là juste par ce que je savais qu’il y avait une geocache, mais je n’avais pas pris les coordonnées dans mon GPS, ca fait qu’on ne l’a pas trouvé.

Ensuite on est retourné a l’hotel et on a eu un tres bon souper. Je pense que c’est la premiere fois que Vincent n’as pas fini toute son assiette. il faut dire qu’il y en avait pas mal.

C’est pas seulement le voyage, mais on avait aussi a tout repaquetter et a nettoyer la chambre d’hotel un peu. Nous sommes arrivés a St-Jean pas mal en avance, si j’avais su, j’aurais dormi un peu plus tard… Vincent s’est enregistré pour le concours oratoire et ensuite il a fait son discours. Il était le dernier a faire sa presentation.. Il etait tres nerveux et il a oublié quelques passages, mais malgre tout il a tres bien fait . Je suis pas mal fier de lui, le fait de faire une presentation devant tout plein d’etrangers et en plus de la faire dans sa langue seconde c’est pas mal impressionnant.

Après son discours, nous avons eu l’après-midi libre, car le banquet etait juste dans la soiree. On en a profité pour aller faire quelques achats en ville. C’est pas mal drole comment le hasard fait bien les choses. On etait juste a coté du magasin de kayak. J’ai pas eu le choix, il as fallu que j’aille faire un tour. Je me suis acheté quelques accessoires pour mon kayak. Une paire de botte hypothermique et un rack pour le toit de la van.

Apres tout ca on est allé au banquet. Ca a bien ete, malheureusement Vincent n’a pas gagné. C’est pas vraiment important car je suis toujours aussi fier de ce qu’il a fait. Il y a quand meme une bonne chose qui est arrivé, il y avait un homme de Rocky Harbour au concours car sa fille etait une des concurrentes. Il a offert un travail d’été a Vincent en tant qu’interprète sur le bateau de Western Brook. Vincent va le rencontrer plus tard cette semaine pour une entrevue. Une des raisons que le monsieur est interessé par Vincent est le fait qu’il est fluent en anglais et en français.  Apres un bon repas, on a decidé de retourner a Rocky Harbour tout de suite apres le banquet.

On est donc parti de St-Jean a 09:15 P.M. et on est arrivé a Rocky Harbour a 05:00 AM. On s’est dit que comme ca on allait eviter tout le traffic. On a eu droit a de la neige tout le long du voyage, assez de neige pour ne pas pouvoir mettre les phares a haute intensité. On a vu un orignal de tres pres. On a ete chanceux car juste comme on arrivait sur lui une voiture est arrivé en sens opposé. Les phares de cette auto là m’ont permis de le voir juste en silhouette au millieu de la route. Ca a fait pas mal fantasmagorique, genre effets a la X-Files. La seule chose qui est sortie de ma bouche a ete Oh shit……. Mais on a ete capable de l’eviter. Pour le reste du voyage j’ai ralenti un peu, du moins jusqu’à ce que mes battements de coeur soientt revenus a une vitesse normal.

On en a vu 8 autres a quelques kilomètres de la maison, tous dans le parc.

J’ai passé la presque toute la journee a dormir dimanche, passé a recuperer le sommeil perdu durant les dernières semaines. Je suis finalement en conge. Après 17 jours de travail en ligne, j’ai finalement 12 jours de conge.

Je pense que je vais essayer de faire quelques affaires durant ces journees de conge…  En premier lieu, me detendre, et bien sur faire du kayak, aller faire des sentiers, faire un peu de geocaching et prendre des photos, j’ai quelques idees pour des photos en temps continu.

Cet après-midi tout en vérifiant mon E-mail, j’ai découvert que de nouvelles personnes s’étaient enregistrées à mon blog. C’est bien que le monde s’enregistrent à mon blog je me demande juste comment ils font pour le trouver?  Ensuite j’ai recu des nouvelles de quelqu’un de que je n’avais plus eu de nouvelles depuis longtemps. Cette personne m’a trouvé grace a mon blog. Il y a longtemps j’etais un animateur scout. On parle d’il y a peu pres 20-30 ans, ca me fait sentir vieux tout d’un coup. Il était un scout dans ma troupe. C’est pas mal le fun de recevoir de tes nouvelles Stephane. Effectivement, ca fait remonter de bons souvenirs à la surface! 

C’est pas mal tout pour les nouvelles, ce soir je vais m’ecraser sur le divan et regarder un film que les enfants ont loué pour la fin de semaine. Je vais vous en parler demain.

Geocaching

Yesterday, day two of my 4 days off. We got up early as we were planning to go to Corner Brook to do grocery shopping. But finally we left later than expected as it took me more time to finish my first coffee. Nothing much to talk about, everyone came along, Lucie, the 3 children and Vincent’s girlfriend. I am thinking that we will not be able to sustain any new boyfriend or girlfriend, because if someone new tags along I will have to buy a bus.

On the way back from Corner Brook just around Deer Lake we were lucky enough to witness a nice sunset. New photographs have been added in the sunset folder in my galleries on Webshot.

Today, Sunday, day 3 of my 4 days off. Finally a day that I could sleep in because we had nothing on the program.  Well guess what, I woke up quite early anyway, only Alain was up before me. So I spent most of my morning on the computer with several cups of coffee, trying to figure out how to install my gallery on the blog. I am still confused about the whole process, but not discouraged yet. I will make it work no matter what! I did try some time lapse photography. It worked well, at least one out of the two test did. The weather wasn’t that great, cloudy so the result are not spectacular, but at least I know how to do it and as soon as I have a nice subject I will post the results.

Around 2:00pm I was getting tired of being on the computer, so I decided to get dressed and go look for a Geocache near Sally’s Cove. This is about 20km away north from home. You can find the cache information at : Geocaching/Sally’s Cove

The weather was still not bad, cloudy but not too cold. I offered Kim and Lucie to tag along for the adventure and of course they accepted without hesitation. By the time we were all ready to go it was 03:00pm. As soon as we opened the door it started snowing, but we thought to ourselves, we are ready so the worst thing that could happen is that we will have to turn around. So we went. About 5 km from Rocky Harbour the weather changed altogether and we even had some sun. Just before we got to Sally’s Cove we saw a herd of Caribous on the side of the road, Kim counted 23 of them and she didn’t even have her glasses. So I took some photographs of them, that was strange to see them as Lucie had taken her camera with her too, so maybe her luck is changing.

We had a nice walk on the beach at Sally’s Cove, the wind was a bit cold but still very bearable. We found the Geocache without any problem. So now it is two… Wow it is still as exiting as the first time. Kim was really impressed and during all the way back she kept saying she wanted to find another one. She is hooked too. 

As we were leaving to get back to the vehicle, we noticed a storm brewing on the horizon. I took several photographs. I opened a new album on Webshot titled Sally’s Cove. Because of the clouds and the color of the sky the water was green. The scenery was just spectacular, the pictures don’t really do justice to the beauty of it. Although the photographs came out quite good, it was even better in reality. This is the kind of scenery that make you think that compare to the elements and the nature itself we are quite insignificant.

As soon as we got back in the car, it started snowing quite a lot. It is almost as someone had planned to give us a little break just to be able to take advantage of a Sunday afternoon and find another Geocache.

So this was a very good day. Tomorrow is day 4 of 4, I am not quite sure what I am going to do yet… in the meantime make sure to look at all the new photographs on webshot at Marc’s Galleries

They are worth a little detour!

Hier c’etait le jour 2 de mes 4 jours de congés. On s’est levé assez tot, car on avait prevu aller a Corner Brook pour faire du magasinage et faire l’épicerie. Finalement on est parti un peu plus tard que prévu car ca m’a pris plus de temps pour finir mon premier café. Il ne s’est pas passé grand chose, tout le monde est venu, Lucie, les 3 enfants et meme la blonde a Vincent.. Je ne pense pas qu’on va pouvoir accepter une autre blonde ou un autre chum. S’il y a quelqu’un d’autre qui suit, bien je vais devoir acheter un autobus.

Sur le chemin du retour on a été temoin d’un beau coucher de soleil. Juste entre Deer Lake et Corner Brook. J’ai donc rajouté de nouvelle photos dans ma gallerie sunset sur Webshot.

Aujourd’hui, c’est Dimanche, jour 3 de mes 4 jours de congés. Pour une fois que je pouvais dormir et faire la grasse matinee puisque je n’avais rien de prevu, et bien je me suis reveillé assez tot, seulement Alain était deja debout. J’ai passé la majorité de la matinée sur l’ordinateur avec plusieurs tasse de caféa essayer de figurer comment installer ma fameuse galerie sur mon blog.  Je comprend toujours pas comment faire, mais je me décourage pas je vais y arrivé éventuellement. J’ai aussi essayé la photographie en temps continu (time lapse), ca a bien sorti, un test sur deux a réussi donc pas si mal. La temperature n’etait pas tres belle, c’etait nuageux, donc le résultat n’est pas spectaculaire, mais au moins je sais comment le faire. Dès que j’ai quelque chose qui vaut la peine je vais mettre les resultats sur le blog.

Vers 2:00 P.M. je commencais à etre tanné d’être sur l’ordinateur faque j’ai decidé de m’habiller et d’aller me promener pour essayer de trouver une Geocache. Mon but etait de trouver la Geocache pres de Sally’s Cove. Sally’s Cove est à environ 20km au nord de chez nous. La temperature etait pas pire, nuageux mais pas trop froid. J’ai offert a Kim et a Lucie de venir se joindre a mon aventure, je n’ai pas été obligé de leur demander 2 fois. Il etait vers 03:00pm quand on est parti. Aussitot qu’on a ouvert la porte il s’est mis à neiger, mais on s’est dit que comme on etait pret ca vallait pas la peine d’abandonner. Le pire qu’il pouvait arriver c’etait qu’on devrait rebrousser chemin. Faque nous sommes partis. A environ 5 km de la maison, la temperature a changé complètement et on a meme eu droit à du soleil.

Un peu avant d’arriver a Sally’s Cove on a vu un troupeau de caribous sur le bord de la route. Kim en a compté 23 et elle n’avait meme pas ses lunettes… J’ai pris plusieurs photos. Ca faisait tout drole de voir des animaux car Lucie avait emmené sa camera. Peut-être que sa chance est entrain de changer.

Nous avons fait une bonne marche sur le bord de la plage à Sally’s Cove. Le vent etait froid mais c’etait quand meme tres supportable. Nous avons trouvé le Geocache sans probleme. Maintenant ca fait 2 de trouvés! C’etait aussi excitant que la premiere fois. Ca a vraiment impressionné Kim, car durant tout le trajet du retour elle n’a pas arrêté de dire qu’elle voulait en trouver une autre. Je pense qu’elle a la piqûre elle aussi.

Juste un peu avant qu’on parte on a remarqué qu’une tempete se preparait a l’horizon. J’ai pris plusieurs photos, j’ai ouvert un nouvel album intitulé Sally’s Cove sur webshot. Peut-etre à cause des nuages et du ciel, l’eau etait verte. Le paysage etait tout simplement spectaculaire, les photos ne rendent vraiment pas justice à la beaute de la scene. Bien que les photos soient très bonnes, c’etait pas mal mieux en vrai. C’est le genre de paysage qui vous fait sentir tout petit comparé aux elements de la nature et c’est dans ce temps la qu’on se rend compte qu’on est bien insignificant en fin de compte.

Aussitot qu’on est arrivé à l’auto il a commencer à neiger pas mal fort. C’est comme si la température avait décidé de nous donné un p’tit break pour qu’on puisse profiter de notre dimanche après-midi et pour nous laisser trouver une Geocache. Ca a ete une tres bonne journee. Demain sera le jour 4 de mes 4 jours de congés. Je ne sais pas encore ce que je vais faire. En attendant allez jeter un coup d’oeil sur mes nouvelles photos sur webshot, ca vaut la peine de faire un petit detour.
