Last week was another busy week, especially work related. I will spare you all the details, just tell you that I got called out once in the middle of the night and on another occasion had a fight with a guy (I won, he got arrested and charged with assault on a police officer, me…).
Lucie was gone for the first half of the week, she went to a camp with Alain, this was organized by the school and they needed some chaperons. So I ended up with Kim and Vincent at home. I did pretty well considering.
Monday I worked all day and upon my return home Kim and I went for a walk. The same night I got called out in the middle of the night and only came home at around 10:30 the next morning, because of that I ended up sleeping all day Tuesday.
The rest of the week was mainly work work work. Arresting and charging people, when not fighting with them.
Friday was my first day off and Lucie and I went for a walk all morning.
Saturday I didn’t do much, Lucie and Kim went for a shopping trip in Corner Brook, Mother, daughter kind of thing, so I just stayed home. Kim is planning to start some kind of small business this summer, she will be selling crafts. So that was one of the reason they went shopping, they needed supplies. Sunday we all went for a drive and went looking for geocaches.
Of course I also took a lot of photos. Most of the photos are already in my gallery. I started a new page on my blog with a small description of all the park trails that we are going to do this summer.
So that was my week in less than a page, not bad. In other news, I heard a new song by Rob Thomas (matchbox 20) on tv and that is all I have been listening to since the beginning of the week. I did a few purchases on E-Bay. I will be trying something new soon, I am trying to sell things on E-bay and see how it goes. For that reason I just bought 20 camera tripods. Got them at a nice price and now I will resell them and see if it is worthwhile. I will let you know how thing are going. I am also slowly getting all the stuff that I need to go Kayak camping. Got the tent, sleeping bags, and stove. The main reason that I have to get new stuff is that I want everything small so it all can fit in the kayak. This is another goal for the summer, try Kayak camping.
Well tonight is back to work for another week, until Sunday this time.
La semaine dernière a été une autre semaine occupée, particulièrement au travail. Je vais vous épargner les details, mais juste vous dire que j’ai été appellé au milieu de la nuit et à une autre occasion j’ai dû me battre avec un gars. (Au fait, j’ai gagné, il a été arrêté et charge pour assaut sur un officier de police, moi…).
Lucie a été partie pendant la moitie de la semaine. Elle est allée a un camp avec l’ecole pour la classe de Alain. Ils avaient besoin de chaperons et elle a decidé de se porter volontaire. Je suis donc resté a la maison avec Kim et Vincent. Je me suis pas mal bien debrouillé en fin de compte. Lundi j’ai travaillé toute la journee et apres le retour a la maison, moi et Kim sommes aller prendre une marche. Plus tard dans la soiree je me suis fait appellé pour travailler et je ne suis revenu que mardi matin vers 10:30am. Donc j’ai passé le reste de la journee à dormir.
Le reste de la semaine a ete travail, travail, travail. Particulierement, arreter et charger du monde, je ne sais pas ce qu’il y avait dans l’air.
Vendredi était mon premier jour de conge. On en a donc profiter pour aller faire un sentier pendant la majeur partie de l’avant midi.
Samedi, je n’ai pas fait grand chose, Lucie et Kim sont allées faire du magasinage a Corner Brook. Une sortie mere et fille, donc je suis resté a la maison. Kim a l’intention de se lancer en affaire et vendre de l’artisanat cet ete. C’est pour cette raison qu’elles sont allées à Corner Brook, afin d’acheter des choses pour ça. Dimanche nous sommes tous aller faire une ballade en auto et chercher des geocaches, en meme temps j’ai fait pas mal de photos.
La plupart des photos sont déjà dans ma galerie. J’ai commencé une nouvelle page sur mon blog au sujet des sentiers de Gros Morne.
C’etait donc ma semaine en moins d’une page, pas pire! D’autres petites nouvelles, j’ai entendu une nouvelle chanson par Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20) à la télévision et c’est ca que j’ecoute depuis le debut de la semaine. J’ai fait quelques achats sur E-Bay. J’ai l’intention d’essayer quelque chose de nouveau tres bientot. Je vais essayer de vendre sur E-Bay et voir comment ca va aller. Donc je viens tout juste d’acheter 20 trepieds pour appareils photo. Je les ai eu à un bon prix et maintenant je vais les mettre en vente séparrément et on va voir si ca vaut la peine. Je vais vous laisser savoir comment ca se deroule. Je continue de m’equiper pour aller faire du kayak camping. J’ai la tente, le sac de couchage et maintenant le poele. Une des raisons que je me re-équipe c’est que j’ai besoin d’equipement qui soit assez petit pour pouvoir tout mettre dans le kayak. C’est un autre de mes buts pour cet ete, essayer de faire du kayak camping.
Ce soir c’est de retour au travail pour une autre semaine, jusqua dimanche cette fois..

This update might be a bit long as a lot of things happened since the last one.
It has been a busy week especially at work. One of the thing we had to deal with was a moose/vehicle accident. These big animals can do a lot of damage to a vehicle let me tell you. Fortunately the driver was not injured, still wondering who he got out of that one without a scratch. The impact was so hard on the vehicle that it blew out the back window. Unfortunately the moose was not that lucky and died shortly after we got there.
I was off on Wednesday and I couldn’t wait for that day to arrive. I went to do some shopping in Corner Brook. The usual as every second weeks. The only difference this time is Lucie didn’t come along as she had a meeting at the school that day. In exchange I had the privilege to have Vincent and his girlfriend to come with me. The reason that they missed a day of school was not to help me do the grocery but rather to go to Deer Lake and write their driver’s licence test. It was Vincent’s second time writing it and he passed it this time, his girlfriend was not so fortunate, she failed. The end result is that Vincent has now his beginner driver’s licence. No need to tell you that he had a smile on his face since that time.
Upon getting back home, we had supper and then Kim, Alain, Lucie and myself went for a little walk close to home. During the walk we saw an owl, I tried to take some picture but they are not that good.
We saw a rabbit too. During part of the walk, both Kim and Alain were complaining about being tired and wanted to go home.
I was able to give them a little more energy by promising them ice cream upon our return. So I kept my words and we all had ice cream when we got back.
Next day, Thursday, the weather was not that bad, just a bit cloudy, so Lucie and I decided to go for a walk. I don’t know if I mentionned it or not in previous posts but one of my goal this year is to do all the trails in the park. We did 2 trails that day, saw a lot of moose, rabbits and even found another geocache. We got home, had supper and since the weather was nice, especially no winds at all, I decided to go for a little kayak evening. During that time, Lucie went with Vincent to make him practice his driving a bit. So I had a lot of exercise that day, 2 trails and about 2 hours of kayak. If we keep going like that , by the end of the summer I will probably loose all kind of weight, which is not bad.
Friday morning, I went to the post office and found out that I had received my new digital camera. It is a Nikon D50.
I had no choice but to go and try it. So we went, Vincent tagged along so he could practice his driving once more. As you can see from the photo, he still need some practice with his parking.
I saw a rabbit and was able to take some nice photos.
Then Friday night it was back to work, no need to say that I did not feel like it, but that is life.
Saturday morning, I got up fairly early for a guy who had worked the previous night and we (Alain, Kim, Lucie and myself) went for a walk, we did another trail, more chance to try my new camera. I really like it, it remind me of the old time, this one is more what I was used to work with. The thing I really like about digital camera is that you don’t have to change films all the time. When we got home it was time to go back to work. I worked all night, I just came home and I am writing this update.
Tomorrow I am staying home, to relax, update my blog and my photo gallery. I am hoping to do a new page on my blog about all the trails that we are going to do this summer.
I got the dates for my vacation, I will be on leave from July 18th to August 8th. We will be heading to Montreal as soon I am off. If you want to see us, make sure to write it up on your calendar. we will keep you updated of our plans regarding this.
Cette mise à jour vas etre un peu longue, il s’est passé pas mal de chose depuis mon dernier message.
La semaine a ete pas mal occupée particulièrement au travail. Une des choses qu’on a dû faire c’est de repondre a un accident d’auto avec un orignal. Je peux vous dire que ca peut faire pas mal de dommage sur une auto ces animaux-la. Heureusement le conducteur n’a pas été blessé, on se demande encore comment il s’en est sorti sans une egratignure. L’impacte a ete si fort que ca a brisé la fenetre arriere. Malheureusement l’orignal na pas ete aussi chanceux et est mort peu apres notre arrivée.
Finalement j’etais en congé Mercredi et c’etait pas mal bien recu. Comme a toutes les deux semaines, je suis allé a Corner Brook pour faire la commande d’epicerie. La seule différence cette fois-ci c’est que Lucie n’est pas venue avec nous car elle avait un rendez-vous a l’ecole. Mais j’ai eu le privilège d’avoir Vincent et sa blonde avec moi. La seule raison qu’ils ont manqué de l’ecole et sont venus avec moi c’est pas pour faire l’epicerie mais plutot pour aller a Deer Lake pour ecrire leur test afin d’obtenir leur permis de conduire. Pour Vincent c’était sa deuxieme tentatives et il a passé le test, c’était le premier essai de sa blonde et malheureusement elle va devoir y retourner… Ca donne que Vincent a maintenant un permis de conduire de debutant et a eu un sourire fendu jusqu’aux oreilles toute la journée.
En revenant a la maison, on a souper et ensuire Kim, Alain, Lucie et moi sommes partis faire un sentier tout pres de la maison. Durant le sentier on a vu un hibou, j’ai essayé de le prendre en photo mais les resultats sont pas terribles.
On a vu un lapin aussi. Pendant presque tout le sentier, Kim et Alain se plaignaient d’être fatigués et de vouloir retourner a la maison.
J’ai ete capable de leur redonner de l’energie en leur promettant de la creme glacée des notre retour. J’ai gardé ma promesse et on a tous fini par manger de la creme glacée.
Le jour suivant, jeudi, toujours en conge, la temperature etait pas si pire, juste un peu nuageux, donc on a decidé d’aller faire un autre sentier. Je ne sais pas si je l’ai dit ou pas, mais le plan cette ete est de faire tous les sentiers dans le parc. On a fait 2 sentiers jeudi et on a vu beaucoup d’orignaux, de lapins et on a meme trouvé une autre geocache. Nous sommes revenus a la maison et comme la temperature etati pas pire, surtout pas de vent, on a soupé en vitesse et je suis parti faire une ballade en kayak. Pendant ce temps la, Lucie est partie avec Vincent pour le faire pratiquer a conduire. J’ai eu pas mal d’exercice durant ma journee, 2 sentiers et 2 heures de kayak. Si ca continue comme ca, d’ici la fin de l’ete je vais avoir perdu tout plein de poids. Je me plaint pas.
Vendredi matin, je suis allé au bureau de poste et j’avais recu mon nouvel appareil photo digital. C’est un Nikon D50.
J’ai pas eu le choix fallait que j’aille l’essayer. On est donc parti et en meme temps Vincent est venu pour pratiquer sa conduite. Comme vous pouvez voir il a encore besoin de pratique surtout pour se stationner.
J’ai vu un lapin et j’ai pris pas mal de photos.
Vendredi soir c’etait le retour au travail et pas besoin de vous dire que je ne voulais pas y aller, mais c’est la vie.
Samedi matin, je me suis levé assez tôt pour un gars qui a travaillé toute la nuit d’avant. Nous sommes (Alain, Kim, Lucie et mo) aller faire un autre sentier, une autre chance pour essayer mon nouvel appareil. Je l’aime vraiment, il me rappelle le bon vieux temps, je suis pas mal plus habitué à faire des photos avec un appareil comme ca. Ce qui est vraiment le fun avec les appareils numeriques, c’est qu’on n’a pas a changer le film a toutes les 24 ou 36 photos. Ensuite c’etait de retour au travail. J’ai travaillé toute la nuit, je viens juste de revenir et j’ecris cette mise a jour.
Demain je vais rester a la maison et me detendre un peu. Faire la mise a jour de mon blog et de ma galerie photos. J’espère faire une nouvelle page sur mon blog au sujet de tous les sentiers qu’on va faire cet été.
J’ai finalement eu les dates pour mes vacances, je vais etre en congé du 18 juillet au 8 août. On va partir pour Montreal dès le premier jour. Vous etes aussi bien de l’ecrire sur le calendrier, de toute facon je vais vous tenir au courrant de nos plans avec mon blog.

We need your vote, CBC Television and Radio are searching for the 7 Wonders of Canada and the list will be determined by the votes of the people. Gros Morne National Park is now on this list and we need to make the sure that it get in the top 7. I can assure you it deserves to be! If this happens, it will encourage a lot more people to come and see for themselve the wonder that is Gros Morne National Park.

Yesterday we did go to the digital photography workshop, however as I expected we did not learn anything new, so we left before the end. We went back home and I stayed and relaxed for the rest of the day.
I have set up a new page on the side, Geocaching. I am still working on it, there isn”t much stuff there yet, keep checking.
And finally yesterday I downloaded a nice little program called Photo Story. It is done by Microsoft and it is kind of neat. I have been playing with it a little and you can see the results here. That was only 5 minutes work.
It is back to work for me tonight and I will be working for the next 6 days, so I am not sure when the next update will be.

Hier finalement nous sommes aller a l’atelier de photographie digitale, comme je m’y attendais un peu, je n’ai rien appris de nouveau et nous sommes partis avant la fin. Retour à la maison ou j’ai passé le reste de la journee a vegeter.
J’ai fait une nouvelle page sur le cote de mon blog, Geocaching. Je travaille encore dessus, donc presentement il n’y a pas grand chose. Vous pouvez aller verifier de temps en temps.
Finalement hier j’ai téléchargé un petit programme pas pire pantoute qui s’appelé Photo Story. Il est fait par Microsoft. J’ai joué avec un peu et vous pouvez voir les resultats ici. Fait en 5 minutes, juste pour voir de quoi ça avait l’air.

Well I got up a little bit late today, compared to all the other days. The weather was cloudy, windy and chilly. So I sat at my computer with a morning coffee, trying to update my blog and my photo gallery. Soon after dinner time Lucie asked me if I wanted to go for a little trail before the kids were back from school. So we left, we just went to the same trail we did last night with the children. This time we did all of it. There is still lots of snow in the woods.
Then we headed back home and picked up the kids from school at the same time. After that I prepared the supper. I made chili… This is the only recipe that I know and that I do well.
I just ordered a new digital camera on e-bay. It is the same kind as Lucie’s. a 35 mm Nikon d50. My little Pentax W20 still works just fine, but sometimes I find that I am limited in what I can do with it. Now I will have the choice and will still use the waterproof Pentax for kayaking. That will probably mean more photos in the future. Talking about photography, tomorrow morning, we are going to a Digital Photography workshop. This is part of the Norris Point Festival, I am not sure if we will learn anything new, but we’ll see.
On Saturday they have organized a kayak session, still with the festival, I may attend it if the weather is not too bad and if I am not too tired from working the night before. For that as well we will see how it goes.
And now I am back at my desk updating my blog and my photos. I hope that before the end of the night everything will be up to date.
Je me suis levé un peu plus tard que les derniers jours ce matin. Le temps était gris, venteux et un peu plus froid. Je me suis assis devant mon ordinateur avec mon premier café a essayer de mettre à jour mon blog et ma galerie de photo. Peu après le diner, Lucie m’a demandé si je voulais aller faire un sentier avant que les enfants reviennent de l’ecole. Donc on est parti faire le sentier qu’on avait commencé avec les enfants hier. Cette fois on l’a fait au complet. Il y a encore pas mal de neige dans le bois.
Ensuite on est retourné a la maison et en meme temps on a ramassé les enfants à l’ecole. En arrivant j’ai preparé le souper, j’ai fait du chili, la seule recette que je connais vraiment bien et que je fait assez bien aussi.
Je viens tout juste de commander une nouvelle camera digitale sur E-Bay. C’est la même sorte que Lucie, un 35 mm digital Nikon d50. Mon appareil Pentax W20 fonctionne toujours bien, c’est juste que des fois je me sens limité un peu par ce que je peux faire avec. Maintenant je vais avoir le choix. Je vais quand meme garder le Pentax pour aller faire du kayak car il est etanche. Ca va surement vouloir dire plus de photos dans l’avenir.
En parlant de photographie, demain matin, on va aller a un atelier de photographie digitale. Ca fait partie du festival a Norris Point. Je ne suis pas sûr qu’on va apprendre quelque chose de nouveau, mais en tout cas, on verra bien.
Ce samedi, ils ont organisé une session de kayak (Festival de Norris Point toujours), je vais peut-etre y aller si la temperature le permet et surtout si je ne suis pas trop fatigué de travailler de nuit, vendredi. Ca aussi on verra bien ce qui va se passer.
Maintenant je suis encore devant mon ordinateur a essayer de mettre a jour mon blog et ma galerie photos. J’espere que je vais etre a jour avant la fin de la soiree.

Yesterday morning, Saturday we got a call from Kim’s teacher. She wanted to advise Kim that she had won a poetry contest and that she would have to recite her poem during the Norris Point Trails, Tales and Tunes festival. Her poem is about Newfoundland and Labrador. She was the winner for the grades 7-8-9. Her poem is called Mountains and Sand and here it is:
Mountains and Sand
The mountains pierce the azure sky,
Climbing, climbing, rising, rising.
With seagulls flying ever high,
Upon the windy breeze.
The ocean clear as blue-green glass,
Churning, churning, lapping, lapping.
A vast reminder of days that pass,
Forever beyond the shore.
A sea once filled with a bounty of fish,
Jumping, jumping, swimming, swimming.
It was all a fisherman’s wish,
His treasure of the cove.
A birch and a blue spruce pine,
Growing, growing, stretching, stretching.
Forever in this heart of mine,
Never lost to time.
Bugling lighthouse on the head,
Booming, booming, lighting, lighting.
Too glorious for any words said,
The guardian of the sea.
The island name the ‘new found land’,
Sitting, sitting, waiting, waiting.
From colossal mountain to speck of sand,
The heart, for eternity, stays.
No need to say that we are really proud of her. For this reason we went to Corner Brook to buy some “smart clothes” as she calls it because all she had is a little too “casual”, as she called it “smart cloths” she needed something nice to wear as she is going to recite her poem in front of an audience. After some shopping she found something that she liked and looked smart enough.
We then went back home.
On the way there and back, we looked for some Geocaches. Altogether we found 5 yesterday and had lots of fun. We found some nice spots, one of them with nice water fall. I took some picture of all of our findings.
So we ended up back home after few hundred dollars spent, 5 geocaches and 23 mooses. Yes! I said 23 moose. One of them we saw really close too, so close that I still don’t understand how come we didn’t loose a side mirror on the van in the process.
This morning, myself, Kim and Alain went to hide our 3rd geocache and then we went to the Norris Point municipal building as Kim had to rehearse her poem and do a sound check, CBC will be there to record everything, cool isn’t it? She is nervous but I am sure she will do fine.
Everything went well, she did a fantastic job in front of about 300 people. I am really proud of her.
Hier matin, samedi on a recu un appel du professeur de Kim. Elle a annoncé a Kim qu’elle avait gagné un concours de poesie et qu’elle devait lire son poeme durant le festival “Trails, Tales and Tunes” a Norris Point. Son poeme avait pour sujet Terre Neuve. Elle etait la gagnante pour les secondaires 1,2 et 3. Son poeme s’appelle “Mountains and Sand” et malheureusement je ne peux pas le traduire, en tout cas le voici:

Pas besoin de vous dire qu’on est pas mal fier de notre pitoune. Pour cette raison on a du aller a Corner Brook pour lui acheter des vêtements propres puisqu’elle devait faire sa présentation devant une audience. Ca n’a pas pris trop de temps et elle a trouvé quelque chose a sont gout. Apres ca nous sommes retournés a la maison.
Sur le chemin, en y allant et en revenant, on a arreté a quelques endroits pour chercher des Geocaches. En tout on en a trouvé 5 et on a eu pas mal de fun. On a meme trouver un belle chute. J’ai pris pas mal de photos de nos trouvailles.
Donc de retour a la maison, apres avoir depenser quelques centaines de dollars, avoir trouver 5 geocaches et 23 orignaux. Oui j’ai bien dit 23 orignaux. On en a vu un de pas mal proche d’ailleurs, tellement proche que je me demande encore comment je n’ai pas perdu le miroir du côté sur la van.
Ce matin, Dimanche, Kim, Alain et moi sommes allés cacher notre 3eme Geocache et par la suite nous sommes allé au batiment municipal de Norris Point pratique son poeme et comme CBC enregistrait le tout, ill fallait aussi qu’ils fassent un test de son avec elle.
Kim etait pas mal paquet de nerf. Mais je n’avais aucun doute qu’elle allait bien se debrouiller.
En fin de compte tout s’est bien déroulé. Kim a fait ca tres bien, elle etait pas mal bonne surtout qu’elle a recité son poeme devant à peu près 300 personnes. Encore pas besoin de dire qu’on etait pas mal fier d’elle.

Where to start? Just came back this morning, early this morning. As I have mentioned in my last update I was in St John’s since last wednesday.
Vincent and I left last Wednesday at around 10:30am. The trip went well.
I had taken some coordinates for geocaching along the way. I had 4 altogether put in my gps but we found 2. I don’t know where the other 2 were, we searched and searched but did not find them. But it still was quite enjoyable and gave us little breaks along the way. Just enough to stretch and walk a bit. During the whole trip we saw only one moose and it was just after we left in Gros Morne park.
With all that it took us 9hrs to arrive in Harbour Grace. Upon arrival we just crashed in our hotel room and took it easy.
The next day (thursday) I had court. Vincent stayed in the hotel room and I went to the courthouse. I stayed there all day and finally did not give my testimony. Long boring day, just waiting around to be called to testify and nothing happened.
That evening we went to the SPLASH center just to say hi to a few people. Right after that we went to the Harbour Grace air field. This is a historical air field used by Amelia Earhart (http://www.ameliaearhart.com/home.php) during the famous airplane trip. We went there as I knew there was a geocache, however I did not have the coordinates in my gps, the result is that we did not find it. Oh well….
After that we went for a nice supper at the hotel. It was on of those rare time that Vincent did not finish is plate. I must say we ate a lot.
Next day (friday) was back to court, same scenario, spent the day waiting and did not take the stand. This means that I will have to go back in September for the continuation of the trial.
Saturday morning we got up early, too early if you ask me, 05:30am. The reason is we had to be in St John’s by 08:30am. It is not only the travel but we had to pack everything again and clean the room. We arrived at the Capital Hotel way ahead of time, if I had known that I would have slept in…. Vincent registered and then he did his speech. He was the last one to make his presentation. Although he was nervous and forgot a small part of his speech he did a really good job. I am very proud of him, doing a presentation in front of all these strangers in his second language is quite impressive in my book.
After that we had the afternoon off until the banquet later in the evening. So we took advantage that we were in the big city and went for a little shopping. Go figure we weren’t too far from the kayak store, I had to go and browse around. Bought a few new things for my kayak. A car roof and some wet suit shoes.
Then we went to the banquet. This went well, unfortunately Vincent did not made it to the National. That did not matter as I am still very much proud of what he did. However, one good thing came out of all that, one men from Rocky Harbour was there as his daughter was competing as well. He offered a summer job for Vincent as an interpreter on the Western Brook tour boat. He will go and see him later this week. One of the main reason for the offer is the fact that Vincent is fluent in both languages. Cool isn’t it? So after a nice meal, we both decided to make it back home the same night.
We left St John’s at 09:15pm and arrived in Rocky Harbour at 05:00 am. We thought that this way we would avoid all the traffic and take it easy all the way in. We did avoid the traffic, but we had snow all the way. Enough to not be able to put the high beam on. We saw a moose, very close, and it was fortunate that there was another car coming the other way at the time, because if it hadn’t been the case I would not have seen him in time. The car’s headlight just silhouetted him, it was kind of spooky, like a x-files effect. The only thing that came out of my mouth at the time was oh shit……… But we were able to avoid him. For the rest of the trip we slowed down, at least until my heartbeat came back to normal.
We saw 8 more just a few kilometers from home, all in the park.
I slept most of the day today, picking up the lost sleep from the last few weeks. I am finally off after 17 days work in a row. I am off for the next 12 days, they owe me quite a few. I am planning a few things during these few days off, first and foremost, relax, then doing some kayak, going on some trails, doing some geocaching and taking a lot of photos, doing more time lapse, busy schedule.
This afternoon while checking my e-mail, I found out that some new people had registered to my blog. It is cool that people register to my blog, even if it’s not advertised that much. Sometimes I just wonder how I’m found. I also got some news from someone that I knew long time ago. That person found me with my blog. I used to be a scout leader way, way back, we are talking close to 20-30 years ago, wow how old I am? Don’t answer… That is fine… He was then a scout with me. It’s really nice to hear from you Stephane. It did bring back some very good memories.
So that is all the news, I am going to crash on the couch tonight and watch a movie that the kids had rented yesterday. Will tell you more about it tomorrow.
Et bien par ou commencer ? On est revenu tres tot ce matin. Comme j’ai mentionné dans ma dernière mise à jour j’étais a St Jean depuis mercredi passé.
Vincent et moi sommes donc parti mercredi dernier à environ 10:30 AM. Le voyage s’est bien deroulé.
J’avais sauvé quelques coordonnees de geocaching dans mon gps pour le voyage. En tout j’en avais sauvé 4 mais en fin de compte on en a trouvé juste 2. Je ne sais pas trop où les autres 2 sont, nous avons cherché et cherché partout et on les a pas trouvés. Mais ca a été pas mal le fun, au moins ca nous a fait sortir de l’auto un peu, prendre l’air et nous degourdir. Durant tout le voyage on as vu juste un orignal et c’etait juste un peu apres la maison dans le parc de Gros Morne.
Ca nous a pris 9hrs de route pour arriver a Harbour Grace. En arrivant on s’est juste ecrasé dans notre chambre d’hotel et on se l’est coulé douce.
Le jour suivant (jeudi) j’ai eu de la court. Vincent est resté dans la chambre d’hôtel et je suis allé au tribunal. Je suis resté là toute la journée et finalement n’ai pas temoigner. Un jour long et ennuyeux, passé a attendre pour se faire appeler a témoigner et rien ne s’est produit.
Durant la soiree, nous sommes allés au centre SPLASH juste pour dire salut à quelques amis. Tout de suite apres nous sommes allé a la piste d’atterissage de Harbour Grace. Vraiment c’est juste un grand champ, mais c’est un lieu historique qui a ete utilisé par Amelia Earhart ( http://www.ameliaearhart.com/home.php ) pendant son voyage d’avion celebre. Nous sommes allés là juste par ce que je savais qu’il y avait une geocache, mais je n’avais pas pris les coordonnées dans mon GPS, ca fait qu’on ne l’a pas trouvé.
Ensuite on est retourné a l’hotel et on a eu un tres bon souper. Je pense que c’est la premiere fois que Vincent n’as pas fini toute son assiette. il faut dire qu’il y en avait pas mal.
Le jour suivant (vendredi) de retour a la court, même scénario que jeudi, j’ai passe la journee a attendre et en fin de compte je n’ai meme pas temoigner. Faque je doit y retourner au mois de septembre pour la continuation du proces.
Samedi matin nous nous sommes levés tôt, trop tôt si vous me demandez mon avis, 05:30 AM. La raison est que l’on devait etre a St Jean a 08:30 AM. C’est pas seulement le voyage, mais on avait aussi a tout repaquetter et a nettoyer la chambre d’hotel un peu. Nous sommes arrivés a St-Jean pas mal en avance, si j’avais su, j’aurais dormi un peu plus tard… Vincent s’est enregistré pour le concours oratoire et ensuite il a fait son discours. Il était le dernier a faire sa presentation.. Il etait tres nerveux et il a oublié quelques passages, mais malgre tout il a tres bien fait . Je suis pas mal fier de lui, le fait de faire une presentation devant tout plein d’etrangers et en plus de la faire dans sa langue seconde c’est pas mal impressionnant.
Après son discours, nous avons eu l’après-midi libre, car le banquet etait juste dans la soiree. On en a profité pour aller faire quelques achats en ville. C’est pas mal drole comment le hasard fait bien les choses. On etait juste a coté du magasin de kayak. J’ai pas eu le choix, il as fallu que j’aille faire un tour. Je me suis acheté quelques accessoires pour mon kayak. Une paire de botte hypothermique et un rack pour le toit de la van.
Apres tout ca on est allé au banquet. Ca a bien ete, malheureusement Vincent n’a pas gagné. C’est pas vraiment important car je suis toujours aussi fier de ce qu’il a fait. Il y a quand meme une bonne chose qui est arrivé, il y avait un homme de Rocky Harbour au concours car sa fille etait une des concurrentes. Il a offert un travail d’été a Vincent en tant qu’interprète sur le bateau de Western Brook. Vincent va le rencontrer plus tard cette semaine pour une entrevue. Une des raisons que le monsieur est interessé par Vincent est le fait qu’il est fluent en anglais et en français. Apres un bon repas, on a decidé de retourner a Rocky Harbour tout de suite apres le banquet.
On est donc parti de St-Jean a 09:15 P.M. et on est arrivé a Rocky Harbour a 05:00 AM. On s’est dit que comme ca on allait eviter tout le traffic. On a eu droit a de la neige tout le long du voyage, assez de neige pour ne pas pouvoir mettre les phares a haute intensité. On a vu un orignal de tres pres. On a ete chanceux car juste comme on arrivait sur lui une voiture est arrivé en sens opposé. Les phares de cette auto là m’ont permis de le voir juste en silhouette au millieu de la route. Ca a fait pas mal fantasmagorique, genre effets a la X-Files. La seule chose qui est sortie de ma bouche a ete Oh shit……. Mais on a ete capable de l’eviter. Pour le reste du voyage j’ai ralenti un peu, du moins jusqu’à ce que mes battements de coeur soientt revenus a une vitesse normal.
On en a vu 8 autres a quelques kilomètres de la maison, tous dans le parc.
J’ai passé la presque toute la journee a dormir dimanche, passé a recuperer le sommeil perdu durant les dernières semaines. Je suis finalement en conge. Après 17 jours de travail en ligne, j’ai finalement 12 jours de conge.
Je pense que je vais essayer de faire quelques affaires durant ces journees de conge… En premier lieu, me detendre, et bien sur faire du kayak, aller faire des sentiers, faire un peu de geocaching et prendre des photos, j’ai quelques idees pour des photos en temps continu.
Cet après-midi tout en vérifiant mon E-mail, j’ai découvert que de nouvelles personnes s’étaient enregistrées à mon blog. C’est bien que le monde s’enregistrent à mon blog je me demande juste comment ils font pour le trouver? Ensuite j’ai recu des nouvelles de quelqu’un de que je n’avais plus eu de nouvelles depuis longtemps. Cette personne m’a trouvé grace a mon blog. Il y a longtemps j’etais un animateur scout. On parle d’il y a peu pres 20-30 ans, ca me fait sentir vieux tout d’un coup. Il était un scout dans ma troupe. C’est pas mal le fun de recevoir de tes nouvelles Stephane. Effectivement, ca fait remonter de bons souvenirs à la surface!
C’est pas mal tout pour les nouvelles, ce soir je vais m’ecraser sur le divan et regarder un film que les enfants ont loué pour la fin de semaine. Je vais vous en parler demain.
