Since I can’t go kayaking and I am getting a bit restless, I had to find something to keep my mind occupied, a new challenge. The answer came directly in my inbox. I am subscribed to a newsletter called Photojojo, see their website at Photojojo.
The newsletter comes about once a week with all kinds of ideas related to photography. This week they were talking about Panography. I didn’t have a choice, I had to try it. So I went to the end of the road and took 26 photos. The result can be seen right here.
It is a little bit like photography and puzzle put in one package. Most of the work is done in Photoshop after the photos have been taken. It is a little tedious but fun, at the end you have the feeling that you did something.

I will have to try all kinds of things with this and I will let you see the results.
Today I had an appointment in Deer Lake with the Physiotherapist, at the same time we decided to do the grocery. On our way back I decided to do another photography test. I installed the camera on a small suction tripod and while driving back the camera took one photo every 15 seconds. When I returned home, I took all the photos, 250 of them and put them in a movie. Deer Lake to Rocky Harbour in about a minute. That would be nice if the trip could be that fast.

Finally to Jacinthe, maybe your kayak season is starting…. But at the rate things are going, you won’t have time to go kayaking either, you’ll have too many grand-children to look after! lol
Comme je ne peux pas faire du kayak et que je m’emmerde un peu, il fallait que je me trouve quelque chose a faire pour me tenir occuppe. Un nouveau defi quoi. La reponse est venue directement dans mon courriel. Je suis abonne a un bulletin electronique qui s’appelle Photojojo. Vous pouvez voir leur site internet a Photojojo .
Le bulletin arrive environ une fois par semaine, avec toutes sortes d’idees reliees a la photographie. Cette semaine, ils parlaient de Panographie. Je n’ai pas eu le choix, il fallait que j’essaie ca. Je suis donc alle au bout de la rue et j’ai pris 26 photos. C’est ca que ca a donne.
C’est un peu comme de la photo et des casse-tetes melanges. Le plus gros du travail se fait dans Photoshop. C’est un peu long mais amusant et surtout quand c’est fini on a l’impression d’avoir accompli quelque chose.

Je vais devoir essayer toutes sortes de scenes pour voir les resultats et je vais vous les montrer.
Aujourd’hui, j’avais un rendez-vous a Deer Lake avec le physiotherapiste. On en a profite pour faire la commande d’epicerie en meme temps. Sur notre chemin de retour, j’ai decide de faire un autre test de photographie. J’ai installe mon appareil photo sur un petit trepied et pendant qu’on revenait, la camera a pris une photo a toutes les 15 secondes. En arrivant a la maison, j’ai pris toutes les photos, 250 en tout, et les ai mis dans un film. Deer Lake a Rocky Harbour, en une minute. Ce serait bien si ca allait si vite en vrai.

Pour finir en beaute. Jacinthe, peut-etre que ta saison de kayak commence… Mais parti comme c’est la, t’auras pas l’temps d’aller en faire toi non plus, tu vas avoir trop de p’tits-enfants pour t’occupper! lol

It was another busy week end. But at work this time. One of the major incident was a house fire. Nobody was hurt, but the owners lost everything.
Victoria day in Canada and more especially in Newfoundland is the indication that summer is near. It is the week end when people go for the first time of the season to the campground or the cabin and is the official start of the summer. Although it doesn’t feel like summer just yet, people still opened the cabins for the season. During the week-end we found other indication that summer was close as you can see on the photos.
Now I am off duty for 4 days. This is my long week end, a few days late. I am not planning to do much, sitting at my computer and watching kayak video and thinking that it could be me. For the people who have never experienced paddling here is a link with 10 reasons to start paddling.

I have some physiotherapy appointments in the next few days, will see how it goes. So far that shoulder is not doing much better and I don’t have much hope of doing some kayak this summer. I will keep watching video.
I have started going to the gym with Alain and Lucie. I am doing some treadmill and my shoulder exercises. At least I will be in good shape by the time I will be able to sit in my kayak.

Une autre fin de semaine occuppee. Mais ce coup-la au travail. Un des incidents majeurs a ete un incendie. Personne n’a ete blesse, mais les proprietaires de la maison ont tout perdu.
La fete de la Reine au Canada, et plus particulierement a Terre-Neuve est une indication que l’ete est proche. C’est la fin de semaine ou les gens vont au terrain de camping ou au chalet et marque le debut officiel de la saison estivale. Bien qu’on n’a pas l’impression que c’est l’ete encore, les gens vont quand meme ouvrir leur chalet pour la saison. Durant la fin de semaine on a eu d’autres indications que la saison estivale etait commencee, comme vous pouvez le voir sur les photos.
Maintenant, je suis en congé pour 4 jours. C’est ma longue fin de semaine, un peu en retard a comparer a tout le monde. Je n’ai rien de planifie, juste rester assis devant mon ordinateur et regarder des videos de kayak et surtout imaginer que ca pourrait etre moi. J’ai quelque rendez-vous au physio dans les prochains jours, on va voir ce que ca va dire. Jusqu’a date ca ne fait pas grande difference, faque je n’ai pas beaucoup d’espoir de faire de kayak cet été. Je vais donc me contenter de regarder des videos.
J’ai commence a aller au gym avec Alain et Lucie. Je fait du tapis roulant et mes exercices pour mon epaule. Au moins je vais etre en bonne forme quand je vais enfin pouvoir aller faire du kayak.
Finalement un bande sonore drole au sujet d’un repondeur pour une station de police.

We had a busy week end. All started Saturday, when I finished working, we left, actually Lucie even picked me up directly at work. From there we went directly to Corner Brook to do grocery shopping. When we arrived, we pick up Vincent and took him with us. We went for supper and then grocery shopping. Vincent took the opportunity to pick up a few things as well. Then we returned at home late at night.
On Sunday we woke for mothers day to a snow storm. Yup a snow storm on May 10th. Wow. Other than complaining about the weather, we all ended up at the restaurant once more for mothers day.
On Monday, we left early for Corner Brook, I had some medical appointments. The ground was snow covered when we left.
I finally saw the orthopedic specialist. He basically told me the same thing about the results of the MRI. Dislocated shoulder, two fractures and one tear biceps tendon. The good new is that he is not going for surgery. He is hoping that this will get better with physiotherapy. He wants to see me again in two months and he will decide from there. If the physio is working or if I will need surgery In the meantime, physio twice a week and exercises. Once again we picked up Vincent and took him for dinner.
What this all mean is, no kayak until at least August and light duty until then.
Last night I went with Alain to the gym. I did some treadmill and my shoulder exercises.
So a busy week end all considered. It is back to work tomorrow.
Ca a ete une longue fin de semaine. Tout a commence samedi, quand j’ai fini de travailler, on est parti, en fait, c’est Lucie qui est venue me chercher directement a l’ouvrage. On est allé directement a Corner Brook pour faire la commande d’epicerie. Quand on est arrive on a ramasse Vincent. On est aller souper et ensuite on a fait la commande. Vincent en a profite pour se ramasser quelques affaires pour son appartement. Ensuite ce fut le retour a la maison tard dans la soiree.
Le dimanche, pour la fete des meres on s’est reveille avec une tempete de neige. Et oui de la neige le 10 de Mai. Wow. A part se plaindre de la meteo on est tous alle au restaurant pour feter la fete des meres.
Lundi on est parti de bonne heure, encore en route pour Corner Brook. Cette fois c’etait pour des rendez-vous medicaux. Quand on est parti le sol etait recouvert de neige.
J’ai finallement vue l’orthopediste. En fin de compte il m’a dit la meme chose au sujet des resultats du MRI. Une epaule disloquee, deux fractures et une dechirure du tendon du bicep. La bonne nouvelle c’est que je ne vais pas avoir besoin d’operation. Il espere que tout va s’ameliorer avec de la physiotherapie. Il veut me revoir dans deux mois, et il va decider a ce moment la si la physio fait effet ou pas. Donc en attendant c’est la physio deux fois par semaine et des exercices pour l’epaule. Encore une fois comme on etait a Corner Brook on a ramasse Vincent et on a ete diner.
Tout ca veut dire pas de kayak au moins jusqu’au mois d’aout et en travaux légers encore pour un moment.
Durant la soiree j’ai ete avec Alain au gym. J’ai fait quelques exercises pour mon epaule et un peu de tapis roulant.
Une grosse fin de semaine quoi et demain c’est le retour au travail.

Well I am writing this blog on a brand new computer. The reason is that my laptop let me down. It froze and wouldn’t let me do anything with it, I even tried to re-install everything, it wouldn’t even let me do that. As the laptop was starting to give me a lot of trouble lately I decided it was time to get a new one. I went on the internet to find one that was suitable for me. I am hard to please when it comes to computer, two of the things I was looking for was: wireless internet and window xp. I don’t like vista. After a search on the internet, I found exactly what I was looking for. The Acer Veriton 410. Small desktop computer with all I wanted. So this is it, I am writing from my new computer.
It is only one of my problems lately. As I have mentionned in my last entry, I have hurt my shoulder in the beginning of march. This is still on the go. I have seen more doctors in the past month and half than in the past 20 years. I had x-rays, Cat scan, MRI, and ultrasound done. All that medical technology and it’s still not better.
I got the results of the MRI. It is all medical terms but from what I could understand, here is what I have: a dislocated shoulder, a Hill-Sachs fracture and a slip tear on the biceps tendon. All this to say that it is painful. Lately I have been going to the physiotherapist. The funny thing, he is using tape (similar to duck tape) on my shoulder to keep it back a little and now I feel better. I always said that you could do anything with duct tape. I am making reference to the Red and Green show “The handyman’s secret weapon – duct tape. “.
All that to say that my kayaking season is most likely gone. The doctor said it will take at least 3 months for me to recuperate, the physiotherapist said about 5 months… So either way, it doesn’t look to good.
In other news (meaning not about me…) Vincent moved out, he is now living in an apartment in Corner Brook, about 1 ½ hour drive from here. He found himself two jobs and he is now all set up. The last time we were in Corner Brook for grocery we stopped by for a coffee. He got himself an nice little set up. So now we are awaiting the invitation for supper.
Alain started to go the gym every second day. He is going at the RCMP/Park Canada gym. He started that on his own and so far so good he is sticking to it. Good for him, I am quite proud of him for doing something like this for himself and on his own.
As for Kim she bought herself a fish tank. She now has 2 fishes to keep her company while on her computer.
Lucie has found a job for the summer. She is taking Vincent old job at Western Brook as an interpreter. They always need bilingual interpreters and with Vincent gone, they had an open position. She is excited and very happy about it. That will give her a chance to get out of the house, meet new people and have fun.
In the bigger picture, its mean that we are not going anywhere for vacation this year. If you want to see us, you will have to come here.
That is all the news in this house lately. I am schedule to see the orthopedic specialist on May 11th. From that appointment we will find out if I need surgery or not. I will keep you informed.
Spring is long to get here this year. We had snow on April 29th. But it is on the way, the moose are on the go, which is a clear sign of spring.
Eh bien oui, je suis entrain d’ecrire ce blog sur un ordinateur tout neuf. La pourquoi, c’est que mon laptop m’a laisse tomber. Il a decide d’arreter tout d’un coup et ne m’a plus laisse faire quoi que ce soit avec. j’ai meme essaye de tout re-installer, mais sans succes. Comme il commencait a me donner plus de problemes qu’autre chose, j’ai decide que j’etais due pour un nouvel ordi. J’ai cherche sur l’ Internet pour en trouver un a mon gout. Je suis pas mal difficile quand il s’agit d’ordinateur, il y a deux chose que je voulais par dessus tout: Internet sans fil et Windows XP. Je n’aime pas Vista du tout. Apres un peu de recherche, j’ai trouve exactement ce que je cherchais. L’Acer Veriton 410. Petit ordinateur de bureau avec tout ce que je voulais. Donc je vous écris de mon nouvel ordinateur.
Ca c’est seulement un de mes problemes dernierement. Comme je l’ai mentionne dans ma derniere mise a jour, je me suis magane l’epaule au debut du mois de mars. Et bien c’est pas fini ca encore. J’ai vu plus de docteurs au cours du dernier mois et demi que durant les 20 dernieres années. J’ai eu des rayons X, Catscan, MRI, echographie. Tout cette technologie médicale et y a toujours rien de mieux.
J’ai finalement reçu les resultats du MRI. Si j’ai bien compris malgre tous les termes medicaux je me suis: disloquer l’epaule ce qui m’a donne a une fracture de Hill-Sachs et une dechirure du tendon du biceps. Tout ça pour dire que c’est douloureux et pas drole. J’ai commence a faire de la physio recemment. Le plus drole dans tout ca et un peu ironique aussi, il se sert de tape (comme du duct tape) sur mon epaule pour la garder en arriere un peu, et ca me fait du bien. J’ai toujours dit qu’y a rien qu’on peut pas arranger avec du duct tape. Je fais reference a la serie de television “red and green show” “The handyman’s secret weapon – duct tape. “.
Tout ca pour dire que ma saison de kayak est pas mal fini. Le docteur a dit qu’il faudra compter au moins 3 mois pour recuperer, le physiothérapeute, un peu moins optimiste, a dit environ 5 mois … donc peu importe ca regarde mal.
Bon pour les autres nouvelles (je vais arreter de parler de moi …) Vincent a demenage, il est maintenant dans un appartement a Corner Brook, environ 1 ½ heure de route d’ici. Il s’est trouve deux emplois. Faqu’il est tout installe. La derniere fois qu’on a ete a Corner Brook pour faire la commande d’epicerie, on a arrete pour un cafe. Il est bien installe, c’est pas pire pantoute pour un premier appartement. Maintenant, on attend juste pour qu’il nous invite a souper.
Alain a commence a faire des exercises. Il va au gym a tous les deux jours. Il va au gym de la GRC/Park Canada. Il a commence ca par lui meme et jusqu’ici tout va bien. C’est bien et je suis pas mal fier de lui d’avoir decider de faire ca par lui-meme.
Quant a Kim, elle s’est achete un aquarium. Elle a maintenant 2 poissons pour lui tenir compagnie quand elle est sur son ordinateur.
Lucie s’est trouve un emploi pour l’ete. Elle a pris l’ancienne job a Vincent a Western Brook. Ils ont toujours besoin d’interpretes bilingues et comme Vincent est parti, ils avaient une position ouverte. Elle est pas mal contente. Ca va lui permettre de sortir de la maison un peu, rencontrer tout plein de monde et de se faire du fun.

C’est pas mal tout ce qui ce passe ces temps-ci. J’ai un rendez-vous avec l’orthopediste le 11 mai. C’est la que je vais savoir si je vais avoir besoin d’une operation ou pas. Je vais vous tenir au courant.
Le printemps est long a arriver cette annee. On a eu de la neige le 29 avril. Mais ca s’en vient. Les orignaux ont recommence a se promener, ca c’est un bon signe du printemps.
