Good Weekend / Bonne Fin de Semaine

Well, where to start…. I worked all week last week and we were fairly busy, nothing really new until Thursday night. I came back from work and I was tired, however the kids had other plans for me. They had rented the movie Happy Feet and wanted me to watch it with them. I did and I am glad about it. First it is a cartoon with penguins, I like penguins, like I said it is a cartoon movie for kids but with adult music. So we all watched it and I had a good time.

Next day, Friday I worked all day. I got stuck in the office all day so about an hour before the en of my shift, I decided to go for a little drive to see if I could find any speeders. I did not find any but I did saw some caribous, was quite please because that was going to give me some bragging rights upon getting home. I took some pictures and as my shift was almost over, I turned around. Not even 5 minutes after I saw the caribous, on the same side of the road, a nice moose was waiting for me. Took more photos, imagine all the bragging rights this gave me for when I would get home. So end up finishing late that day, got home and was too tired to brag properly.

Saturday I was supposed to work, but I took the day off. They owe me a few anyways. One of the main reason for taking the day off is that I was planning to go to Corner Brook in the evening as they had organized another Kayak/pool session. So we left early in the afternoon to do some shopping. It went as well as shopping could go with teenagers…   It only took us a few hours to find a belt for Kim. They never had the one she liked…..(teenagers!)

I took my kayak as I wanted to try with mine, Vincent wanted to do some as well so I figure that it would be better having mine and Vincent would be able to borrow one. It turns out they did not have any spare one that night. So we both shared mine. I had my waterproof camera, so whoever was not in the kayak was doing photos. From looking at the picture after, Vincent had some fun. He had some fun in the kayak too, he was upside down most of the time, but he had fun. So we left Corner Brook and about 20mins after we left Vincent realized that he had forgotten his sunglasses in the parking lot. We turned back and he was lucky enough, we found them back with not even a scratch on them. In all the commotion that the lost sunglasses created, I lost my battery for my camera. (Just ordered a new one on e-bay).

Today, Sunday the plan was to get up and go for a little paddle, had too much fun last night. It is always nicer in the morning, the wind picks up in the afternoon. However it did not go as planned as I got up late, so instead we went for a little drive in the afternoon to see some scenery. We had a nice trip and took some photos. On the way back we saw, yes you guessed right another moose on the side of the road. We stopped and snapped a few picture, fairly close, he did not seem to mind us taking picture. Lucie was quite happy to see one so close.

Finally, the kids cleaned the van late in the afternoon and Vincent and I cleaned the front lawn.

I am planning to put the new photos in my album by tomorrow.

Tomorrow if it is nice (that is what they forecast) I am planning to have that little kayak outing. And the kids are back to school, cool……

Bon, Bien, par où commencer…. J’ai travaillé toute la semaine derniere et on a ete pas mal occuppé. Il ne s’est passer rien d’extraordinaire avant jeudi soir. Je suis revenu du travail et j’étais pas mal fatigué, mais les enfants avaient des plans pour ma soiree. Ils avaient loué le film Happy Feet et voulaient que je le regarde avec eux. J’ai l’ai regardé et j’en suis pas mal content! Premierement c’est un dessin animé avec des pingouins, j’aime les pingouins, comme je disais c’est un dessin animé pour des enfants mais avec la musique d’adulte. Donc on l’a tous regardé et on a passé une bonne petite soirée.

Le jour suivant, vendredi j’ai travaillé toute la journée. Je me suis ramassé au bureau toute la journee, juste avant de finir j’ai decidé d’aller faire de la patrouille pour essayer de trouver des automobilistes qui faisaient de la vitesse. Je n’en ai pas trouvé mais j’ai vu des caribous, j’étais pas mal content, j’allais etre capable de me vanter un peu en arrivant a la maison. J’ai pris quelque photos et comme mon shift etait presque fini j’ai fait demi-tour. Meme pas 5 minutes plus tard, sur le meme cote de la route, un orignal m’attendait. J’ai pris quelque photos encore une fois, et j’ai pris plaisir à imaginer comment j’allais pouvoir me vanter en arrivant à la maison. Tout ca a donné que j’ai fini de travailler plus tard que prevu. En fin de compte je me suis pas vanter tant que ca, j’etait trop faitgué.

Samedi je devais travailler, mais finalement j’ai pris une journee de congé. Ils m’en doivent tout pleins de toute facon. Une des raisons pour prendre une journee de congee c’est que le groupe de kayak avait organisé une autre session de kayak en piscine a Corner Brook dans la soiree. Donc on est parti tot dans l’apres midi pour faire quelques achats. Ça a été aussi bien que du shopping peut aller avec des adolescents…. On a passé pres de 2 heures pour trouver une ceinture a Kim. Elle n’etait pas capable d’en trouver une a son gout…… (les adolescents !)

J’ai emmené mon kayak avec moi, car je voulais essayer le mien. Ca a bien addonné parce que Vincent voulait en faire aussi. Donc j’avais le mien et Vincent pourrait toujours en empreinter un. En fin de compte ils en avaient pas de disponible, donc on s’est partagé le mien. J’avais emmener mon appareil photo, et celui qui n’etait pas sur le kayak prenait des photos. En regardant les photos plus tard a la maison je me suis apercu que Vincent s’est pas mal amusé avec…. Il a bien aimé le kayak aussi, meme s’il etait a l’envers la majorité du temps, mais il s’est amusé en masse. Apres tout ca on est parti de Corner Brook et après environ 20 minutes de route Vincent s’est apercu qu’il avait perdu ses lunettes de soleil. Faqu’on a tourné de bord et pour retourner a la piscine. Il est pas mal chanceux, on a trouvé les lunettes dans le stationnement. Même pas une éraflure dessus. Dans tout cet enervement à cause des lunettes on a perdu ma batterie pour mon appareil photo. (Je viens tout juste d’en commander une sur E-Bay).

Aujourd’hui, dimanche, le plan était de se lever de bonne heure et d’aller faire un peu de kayak, je me suis trop amusé hier soir. Il fait toujours plus beau le matin, le vent se lève l’après-midi. Ca n’a pas marché comme prevu car j’ai fait la grasse matinée. Donc a la place on a ete faire une ballade en auto dans l’apres midi. Le voyage a bien ete et on a pris quelques photos. Sur le chemin du retour on as vu un orignal sur le bord de la route. On a arrêté bien sur pour prendre des photos, l’orignal ne semblait pas se preoccupper de nous. Lucie était contente de le voir de si pres.

Pour finir la journee, les enfants on nettoyé la van et moi et Vincent avons nettoyer le terrain devant la maison.

J’espere mettre toute les nouvelles photos dans mon album demain.

Demain s’il fait beau (cest ce qu’ils prevoient ce soir) j’espere aller faire une promenade en kayak. Et les enfants sont de retour a l’ecole.

Movie Night / Soiree Cinema

Last night, as usual the weather was terrible. We had a snow storm, got a little over 2 inches over night. I wonder where spring is gone.

So I headed to the convenience store and rented a DVD. Since the beginning of the Easter vacation , Kim and Alain had requested that we rented the new Garfield movie. You have to understand that being in a small place the choice of rental is fairly limited. My DVD collection is bigger than the choice they have. So to make a long story short, I ended up renting another movie.

I rented the movie Monster House. It is kind of like the X-Files for kids. It’s a cartoon movie. We all sat down in the living room. When I said all sat down, I mean all. Lucie, Alain, Kim, Vincent and his girlfriend Shinea, the 2 dogs and myself.

We had a good time and really enjoyed the evening, we should do that more often, maybe if we manage to get Garfield…

In the meantime it is still snowing and I am working tonight….

Hier soir, comme d’habitude la temperature etait terrible. On a eu droit as une tempete de neige, il est tombé à peu pres de 2 pouces de neige durant la nuit. Je me demande ou le printemps est parti.

Donc je suis allé au depanneur et j’ai loué un DVD. Depuis le début des vacances de Pâques, Kim et Alain nous demandaient de louer le nouveau film de Garfield. Il faut comprendre que comme nous sommes dans une petite ville le choix de films à louer est assez limité. Ma collection de DVD est plus grande que le choix qu’ils ont. Et donc j’ai dû louer un autre film.

J’ai loué Monster House. C’est genre X-Files mais pour des enfants en dessin animé. Nous nous sommes donc tous assis dans le salon. Quand je dit tous, je veut dire tous, Lucie, Alain, Kim, Vincent et sa blonde Shinea, les 2 chiens et moi-même. On a eu une bonne petite soiree et on devrait faire ca plus souvent, quand on arrivera à avoir Garfield peut-être.

En attendant il neige encore et je travaille ce soir.

Easter / Paque

Chocolate, who needs chocolate?  Not my kids, they are hyper enough as it is… Not really, this morning it was the hunt for chocolate. Everyone seems to be happy, I got some too, but in my case I need the extra energy. I don’t know how the Easter bunny does it, first get in with these two dogs and then hide chocolate all over without the dogs eating him.

So Happy Easter everyone!

Nothing really new, just finished working 7 days in a row. We were quite busy too. I started the DARE program in one of the schools. (Drug abuse resistance education). Already done 4 presentations out of 10. It is kind of nice, changed the routine a little bit and it is fun to have some interraction with the kids.

Kim had a good time in Corner Brook with her drama club. She must have as when she came back, she went straight to bed because she was too tired.

The weather is still not cooperating. Friday was cloudy and windy, yesterday was not bad but not that great and today we have a wind warning. I can’t just wait for the weather to be nice, the only thing I am thinking about in my days off is kayak. Every time that I think that the spring is finally here, then bang it snows again. Do you know how hard it is to want to do something so bad and be stuck in the house waiting for the nice weather?

Tomorrow it is back to work. The nice thing about it is that they owe me several days off, I am keeping them for the nice weather. By then I might have something new to write about.

Chocolat, qui a besoin de chocolat? Surement pas les enfants, ils sont deja assez excité comme ca!  Farce à part, ce matin c’etait la chasse au chocolat. Tout le monde a l’air content. Moi aussi j’en ai eu, mais dans mon cas, c’est ok, j’ai besoin de l’energie supplementaire. Je ne sais pas comment le Lapin de Pâques arrive a faire son ouvrage. D’abord il passé les deux chiens et ensuite il doit cacher le chocolat en s’assurant que les chiens ne les trouveront mais que les enfants y arriveront et ceci sans se faire bouffer par les chiens…

Joyeuses Pâques tout le monde.

Rien de nouveau vraiment. J’ai travaillé 7 jours en ligne la semaine passée et on a ete pas mal occuppé. J’ai commencé le programme de DARE dans une des ecoles.(Éducation de résistance d’abus des drogues). J’ai déjà fait 4 présentations sur 10. C’est pas pire, ca me change de la routine et c’est plaisant d’échanger avec les enfants.

Kim a bien profité de sa fin de semaine a Corner Brook avec son groupe de theatre. Quand elle est revenue elle est partie directement se coucher. Faqu’elle a du avoir du plaisir.

La temperature est toujours pas de notre coté. Vendredi c’était nuageux et venteux, hier c’etait pas si pire mais aujourd’hui on a pas mal de vent. Ma patience travaille pas mal fort, je ne peux plus d’attendre que la temperature soit belle et que je puisse aller faire du kayak. A toutes les fois que je pense que le printemps est enfin arrivé, bang il neige encore. Vous pouvez pas savoir comment c’est dure de vouloir faire quelque chose aussi intensément et d’etre pris dans la maison en attendant que la temperature coopère.

demain je retourne au travail. Ce qui est bien c’est qu’ils me doivent tout pleins de journees de congé. Je vais les garder pour quand la temperature sera de mon bord. Comme ca, ca va me donner quelque chose de nouveau a ecrire.
